Rivco Floor boards and highway pegs installed

Well I finally got the Rivco floor boards and highway pegs installed.

Just a warning that their instructions really suck and have some wrong information in them.

I ended up having them powder coated black to match my black/orange theme!



I must say that the floor boards are a great improvement......The highway pegs I am not sure yet. Being that I am 6'4 they seem to be too close to me. I may look at changing them to lower the pegs a few inches to make them more comfortable. I also ended up taking off the toe/heel shifter as I didn't care for it as the foot peg stub that comes with the kit would get in the way when trying to use the heel shifter even after several adjustments.

The floor boards themselves are a harley base so you can choose different inserts by many aftermarket companies like Kuryakyn....which I will be getting a set of all black ones to get rid of the little bit of chrome on them.

I will try to do a video of this to help people in the future with the installation....as their stock photo's in their instructions don't help much.

Nice! I was thinking of the Rivco Highway Pegs for my RS. What made you decide on them over the ESI and Kewlmetal pegs?

I had the ESI ones on my old 2008 GS and it made my feet spread out too much. The kewlmetal ones seem to be to close to the inside of the air intake and think it would make my feet hotter. I am going to try to get an offset extension adapter to drop my feet a bit but having trouble finding something in black.....only chrome ones out there.

I have the ESI brackets with the Rivco pegs on my 08. I like mine just fine. However, I am 6'6". I agree with Spyder-dude in that they do spread your feet out a bit as they are set pretty far forward. They did take a little getting used to. I think if you are under 6 ft. that the Kewlmetal or Rivco brackets would be better.

At 5'9" I find the Rivco pegs very comfortable. I also had some issues during the install, the manual must be outdated.

Very nice! I have the Rivco floorboards on my RS, too. Can you elaborate about the inserts for the boards - any links to other options? Just curious.

I love these boards. I also hat the highway pegs on order. But, they took something like 3-4 months longer to have them ready than they originally stated - I had time to reconsider them & thought they might be too close to stretch my legs out - I chose to cancel those.

Still considering other options for highway pegs. But, the boards are great.
Our dealer even commented they were the nicest boards he had seen on Spyders he has serviced.

I know there are a bunch of manufacturers that sell them. You basically have to remove them buy pushing up on the 4 rubber peieces underneath.....but getting them back on is the hard part. I spoke to my local harley shop and he even said they are fun to put back on.

Here are the instructions which will give you a better idea of what is needed to be done. Should only take 5-10 minutes to install as it appears their inserts you don't have to mess with the rubber darts.

In the one photo it looks like you cut the plastic for the highway peg..or is it just my imagination :dontknow:

No cutting of the plastic was needed. Just appears that way in the picture. After my recent 2200 mile trip to Daytona and back home I am getting used to the position of these! :thumbup:
