• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Spyder Rental?

I was looking into renting a Spyder to spend a few days with one to see if I could really adjust to the handling, but the rates Eagle Rider are charging in L.A. are just too much - $240/day, which seems crazy to me as it is, plus that only gets you 100 miles, so by the time you spend a few hours a day riding you end up at $300 per day. For that price, it's almost cheaper to just buy one and resell it if you don't like it - are there less expensive rental options out there, preferably in CA?

Thanks! Unfortunately it looks from their web site like they're in AZ and CO, not CA. Something to keep in mind though if there's no one closer!

$200-250 per day seems to be the going rate, when, where, and if you can find them. Find a dealer that will let you do a thorough test drive.

The squirrley handling you hear about is a beginner thing. To much input seems to make the :spyder2: seem to wander. The less steering input, the better. After 200-500 miles, we never hear about handling issues.

It took me 500 miles or so, I came from 40 years of driving two wheelers.

If you can find a cheap flight to Phoenix, make a little vacation our it and rent one of ours... I'll give you a good deal. We are doing $125 p/d Mon-Thurs, unlimited mileage. And I can do a little better with the Spyder Lovers discount...

If you can find one to buy for less than that.... please order me a dozen!!! ;)

Okay, here's one for you all... what do you think the top 5 benefits of renting are??? :dontknow:

1) risk free... You dont like it... You never have to see the thing again
2) you can rent something you never would of bought or just something different for a day
3) sold the gf on the idea of a motorcycle
4) the gf fell in love with the spyder
5) the gf said "yeah were getting one of these" (my personal favorite reason)

excellent reasons:yes:

Before i traded my Spyder in for a Tri Glide, I asked the Harley dealer if he had a Tri i can test ride, Sure he said we have a rental take it out see how you like it, Also if you want he said you can rent it for a week [250 a day] and if you decide to buy a new one from us we will wave the rental fee. If every dealer did that they'll sell a lot more Machines.

Were are your rentals located in the Phoenix area and do you know what the license requirements are in AZ? We will be spending about 3 weeks in March in Gilbert and thought about renting a spyder for my wife. We live in MN and she got a bike last September and only had time to get her MN permit not her complete 3 wheel license. Thanks for any help.

I'm in Gilbert as well. For Spyders you will need a motorcycle endorsement on your license. We don't have a special trike license that I am aware of. AZ considers the Spyder a motorcycle and not a trike. You can even do the motorcycle driving test on the Spyder now.

Jim- bay area for 150.00 a day I think. I'm in Modesto. Saw advertisement in bay area Craigslist.

Be careful. Once bitten by the spyder , your forever hooked.
