• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Now I've got a question...
Is that what you'd have to do with a photo in order to figure out how to make a patch out of it?:dontknow:

I really liked that yellowed paper of you working on an engine and the tin type of 2011. Those are poster quality!

Very Cool Stuff. :thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

I have been thinking of changing out some artwork in my office and Lamont, you have just given me the ideas!

I'll be downloading the app tonight. :)

The one for the PC is not the same program, that's FotoSketcher not PhotoSketcher.
I would have looked at it more but I got a lot of popups and text editors windows popping up when I clicked on the website. :dontknow:

Unfortunately the PC program FotoSketcher is not in the same league as the Mac program PhotoSketcher. Don't waste your time downloading it, it can't even come close to the awesome images shown here. Macs have always been the choice of artists and generally have far better creative software than PC's.

So I guess those of us that use PCs should throw our hands in the air and run screaming down the road to the local store to buy a MAC, then go home and take a sledgehammer to our PCs? FotoSketcher may not be in the same league with the Mac program, but for these types of effects it exceeds the capabilities of PhotoShop in some ways, and is certainly worth the price (free). Take a little pity on those of us that use PCs, and try not to be quite so harsh, please. :)

Oh, please don't take a sledgehammer to your PC!

Just leave it alone and it will self-destruct! :roflblack::roflblack::roflblack:

Geez Scotty, I'm not trying to harsh, just factual. The best artistic software is written for Macs. I have several PC based desktops and laptops but no Macs :banghead: so I'm in the same boat as you. My daughter works for a NYC Madison Ave advertising firm and they all have Macs to do their artwork so I've seen first hand what they can do. Macs are for artists. PC's are for accountants, bankers, hackers, engineers, programmers, scientists, and everyone else. You could always buy Adobe's Creative Suite for the PC but that's around two grand and it still can't do what Lamont is doing here with PhotoSketcher. There's no technical reason that a program as good as PhotoSketcher couldn't be written for a PC, it's just that the people who program the best artistic software know their audience and their audience uses Macs. That doesn't mean PC's are not as good, there's a lot of great PC software that is not available for Macs. Blame the fact that Steve Jobs and Bill Gates couldn't get along for that.

I downloaded FotoSketcher and it pales in comparison to Photosketcher. Don't take my word for it, go ahead use it for yourself and try to come close to what you see here. But please don't take a sledgehammer to your PC, get yourself one of those big foam rubber hammers instead. That's what I use. :)

Just to settle up some conversations on MAC versus PC ideas here people:

During the late 80s, 90s and early 2000, Art programs were in fact just better on MACs. Now there is no technological reason, it is just continuing on because people that made the software do not want to re-write the software. However, this grouping of people are now using a Kernal to design for that is off a basis that is almost 100% Berkley unix. So if you want to get close to that, you have the option of going to a Berkley / Unix / Posix compatable system, then use some of the many emulators / virtual machines out there to run the technology in question.

The same could be done with a copy of VMWare's technology and a MAC license. The real end all be all of it, is that most people that are MAC fans can be overwhelming. Now to their credit I applaud them for being devoted to a brand and working with it. But overall, honestly, any platform is capable of doing either technology and running the software at hand. It just requires time and effort. Its like owning a Harley or a Can-Am. 2 very different facets of the same industry.

So lets hug this one out boys and have a beer.

I have no idea what you just said zrc but I'll take your word for it. ;)

I didn't post this as a mac/pc debate, I was just having a little fun with a $4.95 program that makes my pics look really cool and wanted to share that with other SpyderLovers and offer to do the same for theirs if they sent them to me. I have little to no skill using Photoshop or the likes so programs like this are made for me. :doorag:

Mac/PC debates are nothing. Try posting an opinion on the best oil. Now there's a subject for a knock down, drag out debate! :roflblack:

I just save the stuff out of my car when I change it for my Can-Am, thats cool right?

:joking:
