Noisy transmition

I am new at this i have a 2008 gs manual spyder with 12kkl it seems to have noisy gearbox sounds a bit like a noisy diff but not as high pitched. I live some way from a dealer and at 70 i have a bit of experience under my belt but can't work out where its coming from I was told 2008s were a bit noisy in transmition Help Any One

Are you sure the noise you hear, Isn't coming the gear box but from the rear wheel bearings?
Jack the rear up and spin the wheel by hand and listen for grinding clicking sounds.opcorn:opcorn:

I agree about checking the rear wheel and sprocket bearings. Also check for proper belt tracking/tension and for front sprocket/output shaft wear or play. All these things can create a noise that seems to be coming from the transmission. With the Spyder bodywork, noises aren't always where they seem to be from.

Another question for you spyder men and girls .Just changed the oil and filter put in 4 lt of oil the book says 3.9 went for a run around the block to check for leaks oil level is right at bottom of dip stick should be a fraction above full, answer anyone

I always put in 4.3 Quarts, Are you checking the level with engine hot, ie Full running temperature,
And within 30 seconds of stopping the engine off.?

Oil should be checked with the engine at full operating temperature. This does not mean just running the engine long enough to raise the temperature gauge to normal...the oil and metal parts have to be up to temp, too. Your ride may not have been long enough. If it was, just add a bit of oil. I usually check the oil level after a normal ride.
