Just got an EVO III

Hi Marcel,
I am sending you email and posting this in the forum to let you know I just received my EVO III windshield in light smoke. I have to tell you, whatever problem you may have had with the holes lining up before, it has been fixed. Every hole lined up with perfect precision. The windshield looks great. I am getting ready to go out for a test drive in just a few minutes. It is about an inch and a half taller than my F1 which is what I was thinking I would need, so that is great too. If I have time when I get back from the ride, I will post a full review and photos but most likely I will have to be leaving for work. It will probably be tomorrow before I get the photos and review posted. I will keep everyone informed as to the performance of this windshield and how it works for me. Thank you so much and it looks great on my Candy Apple Red Spyder.

thank you so much for your e-mail to me.
Like I told it so many times, all problems we had are solved and we are ready to go.
We do not send any Windshields to customers out before there to 100% ready.
Now all people who try'd to get a stick in to us will see that we from F1 keep our word
and that we do our best to keep every one satisfied.
I know, that there are always some folks try to get some attention or just happy to heart some one.
Sometimes there can not stand the fact that some else is successfully and there are not or not as much we are.
I guess we all have to deal with that.
I am proud that 99% of our customers are fair, honest and of course great to deal with and we really
do appreciate that.
I also do believe that the People I talking to are happy with the service my Team and me try to provide almost
16 hours a day, 7 day's a week.
We get bigger, stronger and selling more Windshields every day to Spyder Owners around the World.
Even if some people still can or just wont believe it.

Here is my review, I just got back from a ride that included city, back roads and highway up to 80+ miles per hour. This windshield is by far the best. It is way quieter, no head buffeting and just an overall joy. I wish I had it when we rode to Quebec. I don't know if the extra inch and a half to two inches is what is making all the difference or if it is the wings or a combination of both, what I do know is that I just love it. I can still see over the top, I do not look through it at all. I think for the cooler weather, those wings are going to be great wind protection on my hands. I have some photos and I also included a close up so you can see how well it fits in the grove. Marcel has hit a home run with this windshield, in my book anyway.

Also - confirm mirror extensions or not (does not look like it)?!

I think Marcel has said he can "widen" the grip deflector portion of the shield to accommodate the extensions.

yes, if you have the mirror extensions on the bike,
we will "extand" the wings.

How tall is that one?

When I get home I will measure it for you and post in the morning. I am 5ft 6 1/2 inches tall. I sit on a bead rider on my seat so I don't sink down much when I ride and that keeps me about an inch higher than if I was not riding with the beadrider. I take all that into account. I will try to get a photo of me in the riding position so you can see how it "fits"

I just got my EVO 3 and it fits perfect. Took about 5 minutes to install. It took longer than that to unwrap the thing. I'm going on a ride & will let you know how it works. It looks GREAT> THANKS MARCEL!!!!:2thumbs:

So how close are the wings to the handlebars at full turn? Do they bump forward a bit? We're getting closer and closer to what I would like to see in a windshield now, with this added protection to the sides down low. I still think they need to be curved to come farther back toward the rider, though. Just too far forward the way the Spyder is built. Makes it have to be lower to see over effectively, especially for Nancy's 5'2" frame.

Hi Marcel, Nancy doesn't have one of your shields yet. Still hasn't evolved into quite what I think is necessary, although the EvoIII is getting very close. I'd still like to see one that curves backwards to bring the top closer to the rider. Easier to see over that way, needs less shield to send the air over your head. I realize that the large radius compound curve would be difficult to produce, especially the way you do it without molds. I may play around with some mock ups and some streamers to test my theories out, if I ever find some free time. On the other hand, the Evo II may be close enough for her needs, come colder weather.

Measurements and fit of EVOIII

Here is a better photo to show you the "wings" Scotty, to answer your question, the right handlebar does not hit at all in a complete turn and the left handlebar, the clutch is just touching when I have the bars all the way turned to lock them. It has not affected me at all while driving.

Here is me sitting on the Spyder in a bit of a slumping relaxed driving position. As you can see, I have no problem seeing over the windshield. Note I am long in the torso, and I sit on a beadrider so I don't sink into the seat as far, that probably gives me an extra inch in height. By the way, I am 5 ft 6.5 inches tall.

Here is the measurement of the Windshield itself. It is 25" tall from top to center bottom and if you push the tape measure into the contour of the windshield it measures 25.5" In the photo it looks just a little off, it appears my taped slipped at the very top.

Thanks Deb. The pictures were very helpful. Nancy is long in the torso, too, but at 5'2" would need a bit less height, I'm afraid, especially as far out front as the Spyder windshield is. It appears that if we try any other windshield, it will be the EvoIII. Looks like the best bet so far.

It looks and works just fantastic. Fit's like a shoe.
