• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Who built the left side of my bike?

So... Yeah...
I've had my RT almost 2 months. I bought it new.
A few days into owning it, I took it onto the freeway, when suddenly the entire left fender started flapping violently in the wind. I got home. Wiggled it a bit, and a big chunk of something fell out onto the floor. Took the bike and the chunk to the dealer. They took a fender off a showroom model and had me back up so quickly I literally hadn't even realized they had started (yay for awesome service!). Turns out the mount on the inside of the fender panel had broken some time in the past and someone EPOXIED it back together. The chunk I gave them that fell out was a chunk of epoxy. They replaced the fender without fuss, but wanted to know if I tried gluing it after it broke (I didn't), as the warranty department would ask.

Tonight... was driving down the freeway and heard a loud clang. Thought maybe I hit something on the road, but I didn't feel any bumps or the like so I didn't think any of it. Then later, I look down, and the big black wind deflector down by my left foot is flapping back and forth in the wind. Being dark. and rush hour, on the freeway, and my 7 year old is with me, I tough it out and just get home. Upon inspection, that whole section is being held on only by a push pin and a single screw. The plastic around the screw is cracked. There is also a bit on the backside that apparently connects to a larger chunk of frame or some such... only part that frame is still connected to the deflector... it snapped too! Upon inspection, it doesn't appear as though I hit anything. No impact marks anywhere that I can see. That loud clang was likely the part of the frame snapping and hitting the metal screen in front of it.

Seriously! what happened to the left side of my bike before I got it??? Was it some new guy at the factory covering up mistakes? something that happened in shipping? I don't know.... but I'm beginning to question the build quality of my bike.

I have not had any issues with my RT, so I am not sure what he is referring to. If I had to guess, someone at your dealer did not uncrate and put your RT together properly. Maybe they got a new guy uncrating them. On yours they broke the parts, and tried to cover it up by glueing it back together...:dontknow:.

It may have been damaged in shipping, but I don't think this was done at the factory.

Can't say for sure on the fender but I can say that the air deflector most likely broke because of someone resting their foot on it.

:agree: With both of the previous posts... This is either a "build" issue, or somebody putting a boot where it didn't belong...:gaah:

The fender was the guy at the dealership not uncrating it properly and the air deflector was a tired foot resting on it .

Nice talking to you last night.I agree with the previous posts.Leave me out of the foot part(alot of people sit on these at the dealer- as they did mine, after I paid for it,and while I was picking it up).
The answer you already know.Get it fixed and put it behind you.
It's going to be 57 and sunny this weekend.

Hope the warranty covers it. I don't use those as foot rests.

It all should be covered under warranty. If your dealer is a standup guy he should go to bat for you and get it covered under warranty. Maybe someone sat on it before you picked it up.

It might be well to have the bike re-inspected by the people at the dealer or at another dealer. It sounds like set up issues. I don't believe the factory would break and epoxy a new bike going off to the dealer. The shippers most likely would not try to epoxy something that was broken either.

I took it in this morning so they can see it. They'll order the parts and try to get brp to warranty it. Looks like i may have hit something as there was a (very) small chunk out of the front section. I'll have them inspect everything when they do the repairs. Still. Didn't see anything in the road.

Would hate to have to pay for what is probably a costly repair like this on a brand new bike.

Dang, I have used mine as a foot rest, but try not to put much weight on them. I guess I should stop doing that? :dontknow:. Now I will need some of Lamonsters highway pegs...

I put my foot up once, very gingerly long ago to see if I might like highway pegs. Didnt put any weight on it. Didn't find it to be a comfortable position, and took my foot too far away from the brake. Haven't done it since. The default peg position seems perfect for me.

sadly... things brings up the point of non-riders, throwing a leg over your bike; WITHOUT ASKING PERMISSION !!!!!

nothing PIPSSES ME OFF... more than someone climbing on someone else's bike, without the owner's knowledge or consent. I have had this twice on two wheelers of mine and NONE on the Spyder.

the last, was a 4-5 yr old; that hopped up on my Electra-Glide standard. and his mother had to nerve to tell me "He can't hurt it, he's too small." and she was stupid enough to say this as, the bike shifted on the kickstand; from his tiny little momentum. but the look on the little boy's face was, PRICELESS! and subsequently, mommy dearest; when she realized that 759 lbs of m/c might bug squash her little rug rat.

the Spyder has yet to endure a village idiot. ;)

Don't need to read

I don't know, most folks see the spider and they don't read anything after that.

You don't need to be able to read to be afraid of a spyder:ani29:. I have the spyder decal and people love it. (Lamont, picked it up in Elizabethton).
I have yet to have anyone get on my spyder without asking first, usually it is a two wheeler rider. Most Riders will respect another s bike and treat is as their own, of course there are always the exception out there.
