Situation: How to hook up battery tender when the following isn't workable:
1. Had this nifty connector installed at dealer (4 hr ryde one way...winter weather so not an option to go back)...no power. So next choice was
2. Under seat...NOPE, when Corbin installed my seat they have not got the adjustment correct and it is totally impossible for me to raise seat...dealer uses some special tool going thru the gas door and can raise..me nope, never. Dealer is going to call Corbin Again come Spring and say how to fix...

so my ? is since the 12v plug in in back trunk is hot even when the key is off....is there a trickle battery tender that has a 12 volt plug or adapter? And would that work to keep Ms Spyder happy in this cold weather (actually my dealer recommends always putting on tender). Know of a battery that BMW has for their cars that has 12 volt...wow if that would work so easy...

OK all you experts out there!!! Help and thank you in advance...Oh yea...still ryding...today it was 22 but roads are clear and I got all the gear for whatever hits (but I draw the stop line with snow and ice).....:yes:

Battery Tender

Bought me a DieHard battery maintainer/charger from Sears which had the 12 volt connection for easy hook up in the trunk.

All of the above, plus powerlet.com for another source of plugs. I plug my vehicles in 24/7. Have for years. Some say it is not necessary, but I plug mine in and love it....

Yes to all of the above for the battery tender.

The trunk connection is a good solution to charge the battery. Many people here use it.

As to the seat adjustment, I suspect it should be an easy matter to loosen the two bolts that hold the seat in place by the back. You can access the from the split in the back of the seat. In fact, I think that's the only reason for that split.
Once the bolts are loose you can move the seat forward or back to get the seat release to work, and when you're happy with the position, tighten them back down.
Once you have access to the terminals under the seat you can hook up your battery tender any way you like.

WHATEVER YOU DO, DON'T LOOSEN THE GROUND TERMINAL. For some reason it's held in with a bolt that is mounted in a location that is nearly impossible to access.pps:

Everyone else...thank you soooo much for all your input....Have the note on seat bolts and Monday that will be my attempt at "wrenching".....I am soooo not tool skilled, but hey they say you can't teach old dogs new tricks....well I ain't NO DOG...might be old....but I'm up for trying anything (once!!!). :clap:

Hey girl, we might have some serious chronological years on us but that has absolutely NOTHING to do with our mental age. If it did, I would not be planning a 7 or 8K ride to SpyderFest and on to NC to celebrate my 70th. yr. It's all upstairs!

Either do as LaMont suggests (throw it away) or you will likely have to slightly "modify" (grind away on) the latching mechanism to make additional clearance when "unlocked". The problem is the pin hangs up on the latching mechanism even when "unlocked" (an issue not corrected during the manufacturing of the seat).
