• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

This is for my extended family on SpyderLovers....
My No.1 daughter, Olwyn, will be graduating from US Army Basic Training at Fort Jackson in South Carolina this coming Thursday at the age of 31.
Needless to say I will be there....I won't be Ryding (these old bones don't like the cold early mornings) so the Cooper S will get a throat clearing.

The second time I went thru basic was at FT Jackson. Funniest time I ever had. But then it was the Womens Army Corp. 1974 and I was the oldest in the unit at 30. Your daughter has done an awe inspiring thing in that she went thru it and is still able to walk talk and chew gum!!!! I think I lost about 30 lbs when I went. The fun with the M16 was a real winner in my book, managed to get expert and had a lot of fun doing it!!! Not so fun was the runs, the KP and anybody who's ever been in the military can put in their 2c about basic PIA things we had to do. SOOOOO Congratulations to you daughter!!! And welcome to the military family.:2thumbs::clap::congrats::b2b:

Congratulations to her and your family!!!! Many thanks to her for serving our country!! May she have success in her service.

:congrats: to your daughter and you too. My Daughter almost did her Basic at Fort Jackson, but then they changed her to Fort Sills, OK. From one "Army Dad" to another Thank you.

Congratulations to her!!! I graduated there in 1970 and will always remember the Red Clay and cattle cars and the
"Desoto Hotel?:hun:" Wonder if its still there?:roflblack:

congratulations from an old retired Army guy who spent a short time at Ft Jackson (thank God!) Where has the last 22 years gone!!!!!

I would like to add myself to those offering congratulation to your brave daughter and I thank her for her service to our glorious nation.

Congrats and a big THANK YOU to your daughter and wish her the best. I took basic in '69 @ Lackland AFB. Wife took basic in '76 @ Ft. McClelland.

I did my basic training there in 1992. I was a 52 delta ( power generator mechanic), I had no clue what the outside of the base looked like until I finished. They made us keep our head down when we were going there on the bus. I remember getting disciplined severely for packing really light on our 16 mile road march. Everyone was in full gear with 75 Lbs in there backpack and I'm lucky if I had 40 lbs with me. They did not like that at all. :roflblack::roflblack:

I used to run a 5 minute mile back then. Now it might take me 5 days. Congrats to her.

Yeah, she initially tested very well but she really wanted a job to mitigate the student loan thing and she chose the Generator Mechanic offer as you did.
She figures that in three years, given the opportunity to re-up she'll have a better choice having been given the time to explore her new calling.
