There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I have an 09 RS SE5 and when I first got it I thought that I would get an RT in a few years or so. Well after a while I thought maybe not. Now I wouldn't sell my RS for anything (well, maybe $16,000+:roflblack
. I've got a lot of time on it and too much thinking about it to just dump it. I will ride it until BRP makes a new version of the RS and then think about it.

I have 57,000 miles on my 2008 Spyder and plan on keeping it until I get somewhere around 100,000 miles on it. Are there others who plan on keeping their first Spyder for an extended time or mileage? I just out of curiosity this year when I had about 49000 miles asked a dealer what kind of trade-in value I would have on a new RS or RT and his response was with that many miles on it I would be better off to just keep ryding it, which is what I had planned to do any way but was curious about what kind of value was left on it with that many miles. He wouldn't or couldn't give me a figure.:dontknow: Like I said I plan on keeping it and do whatever needs to be done until it gets to be too expensive to keep, of course it is paid for so I can afford to make a lot of repairs and still not be paying out what I would with payments, and I really do love the our Spyder. :2thumbs:
Just wondered if I am in the minority, wanting to keep my Spyder and keep racking up the miles on it.
Jim your Spyder is gorgeous and I'd keep it too if it was mine. My Spyder is quickly becoming a high mileage vehicle also so it probably isn't worth much resale wise either but I love it and plan to keep it for a very long time.

Aren't you going to miss all the lousy, miserable, snowy weather though?!?:roflblack: Of course maybe Michigan weather isn't as bad as Central NY weather, we could extend our ryding time by several months if we didn't have our lousy, miseerable, snowy weather here.

Well I haven't posted in a long time but figured I'd jump in on this one. I had planned to either sell or trade my 08 sm5 infor a new RT this spring. My wife and I tested one at cowtown at sprderfest last spring. We had planned on touring the states when i go into semi retirement. But the more we rode togather the more I started paying attention. After countless wrecks in cars and my lasy bad accident in 06 with my harley I find that I can't do the long road miles any more. Same with the wife. The reason I bought the Spyder was because of my accident and I wanted to get back into the wind so as I said in 08 I got the spyder.This is the only bike my wife will ride on. But we decided to not sell the 08 and we picked up a small class C motorhome so that we can tow the spyder and use it for day trips. That way I get to travel the good old USA and ride the spyder. Seems like the best idea for us. So I'll be hanging onto it for a lot of years to come.

Yup, I'm with you on this one Dan. I don't see any reason to change at this point. There is nothing too "new" about the new models that motivates me to move away from Phantom 14. And re-sale/trade value is about zip, so that's out of the equation. Besides, 14 is 14! I like her the way she is. And since I have been riding her much more sparingly these days (the FA is now my primary ride) the reliability factor has gone way up, so I think we are set for the foreseeable future. Kathy is definitely keeping her RSS; she loves that thing!

I will likely be the only owner of my 09 SE5, and have no plans of ever getting rid of it anytime soon. Perhaps when it is too worn out to ryde anymore it can be turned into a museum piece.

I am currently on battery number 3; however, number 2 shouldn't really count since it was defective from the factory. That's my story and I am sticking to it. :roflblack:

Agreed...whenever I ryde mine (not too often as I'm always at work) I get lookers and questions...it's amazing how it's still a novelty. It's fun on the road looking at peoples' eyes as I ryde by. I don't have too many miles on mine but I am adding a Madstad for colder weather.
I wouldn't get rid of mine no matter what as I have thousands into mods and my bike is worth waaaay too much for a low trade-in...
Plus, being I don't ryde that much, everytime I get on it, it's a total thrill!

When I decided to buy a :spyder: I visited the nearest dealer and sat on a then new 2010 RT, didn't care for the feeling. Sat on a 2009 GS and decided this is for me :yes:. My wife won't even consider getting on anything open, and my GS fits me. I will be riding it until I can't sit up straight. Barring something horrible, I want to be riding it when we both hit 100. That's 100K miles for :spyder2: and 100 seasons for me. Here in Florida, the season is 365 days long, sometimes 366 :roflblack:.
