Did you ever get a second opinion regarding your spyder's engine noise from Ingles? I think you said the tech at Bibbens checked it out before SITA.

Sorry I haven't been back to tell people what I found out about the noise I have been hearing from the motor on my Spyder. I did go to Bibbens and the mechanic there told me he thought it was "piston slap" and not to worry about it at least until I went for the weekend up to the SITA event. So I felt comfortable enough to ryde it up to the Adirondacks and have had no trouble with the running the motor. I did get a second opinion from 1 of the mechanics at the Roberts dealership outside Saranac Lake. He thought it was possibly a rod bearing pounding which really had me worried. Mike Ingles came up Saturday to the Casino for the the last day of the event. He is the dealer I bought the Spyder from and he was good enough to take a few minutes and listen to it and then had some one apply the brake while he slowly let the clutch out and the noise went away. He at that point was confident that since under load the noise went away that it wasn't a rod noise. He believes that it is coming from the "clutch basket" and is not serious as far as hurting anything by ryding it. He called BRP when he got back to work last week and they agreed with him about his diagnosis from the description of what he had heard and how the noise went away under load. He has ordered the parts that he feels is needed to take care of the problem and in the meantime he said it was fine to ryde. We are going to the "3 Great Lakes in 3 Great Days" early Thursday and when we get back home from that event I will be taking it up to his dealership to have the work done. As a side note I changed the oil yesterday and found no debris on the oil plug magnet and the oil felt really clean. :2thumbs:

Again I'm sorry about leaving you guys hanging about the progression of what I found out about the problem.:(

That's good to hear about Mike's diagnostic skills. It makes me feel better that I switched from Filer's to Ingles.

Picked up my Spyder yesterday

Update: I took my Spyder up to Ingles Performance in Phoenix, NY Monday to have the work done on the clutch basket and to have the valves checked. Picked it up yesterday and they did a great job replacing the parts on the clutch and checking the valve clearances, which they found were all in spec. and needed no adjustment. My Spyder has amost 54,000 miles on it and Mike Ingles was very pleased with the valve clearances being in spec. as was I. They also put new plugs in since the old ones had over 20,000 miles on them. They also did a few other minor things that I asked them to do and the bill was only about $440 which I thought was very reasonable and Mike had adjusted the labor hours by 1.1 hrs.as a good will adjustment. I think Mike and the Ingles group are the best and are one of best dealers in the network of BRP dealers. Going to the NYS fair on it today and will turn over the 54,000 mile mark.:ohyea:

I was at Ingles last Monday afternoon and I thought that was your spyder. That's good to hear that after 54,000 miles that your valve clearances were still in spec.

I purchased a GiVi topcase there. I knew I could get it cheaper on the internet; but, when you find a good dealer, I feel it's worth the extra dollars to help them.
