There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Low Fuel Light on 2011 Limited

Just a quick question......I have looked in my manual, but can find no information on a "Low" fuel light, but read about it on the various forums...At what point, or with how much gas left in the tank does it come on, and I am asuming that the Limited has one. Can someone set this newbie strait?:dontknow:

It should come on with about 1.4 gallons left...around 35-50 miles worth for most owners. I wouldn't push it that far myself, I like to make sure I can gety gas withing 20 miles of the light. Safer to use the trip odometer and get gas by the amount of miles traveled. Once you know your average mileage, you know when to get gas. BTW, the Spyder tank specifies a 6.6 gallon capacity, but only holds about 6.0 as a usable maximum.

:roflblack::roflblack::roflblack:

Mine comes on at roughly 125 miles leaving about 2.6 gallons in the tank. I have set the warning on my Garmin GPS at 160 miles, and that works much better.

I used to do that too, but at 120 miles, you are probably only adding 4 gallons or less - you never use the extra 2.6 gallons on board… food for thought.

Dang! I usually refill after about 120 miles but if I never end up using that extra 2.6 gallons it will eventually go bad. Guess I better refill after 150 miles. ;)

as scotty frequently points out, the 6.6 gal tank really only holds 6.0 gal and after running mine completely out of fuel, I was only able to put in 5.7 gal. If I had a warning that came on at 160 miles I would be sitting along the interstate somewhere waiting to hear it.. Of course my mileage may be affected somewhat adversely by my average speed. Encouraging a newbie to push the mileage to the absolute limit may not make for a happy newbie..

Thanks,

Thanks, for all the Imput.....and the Chuckles:roflblack: I am Old school also I guess, as I am not fond of Pushing...so will probably start looking at the 125-150 mile range Where is this light located on the display..? or on the fuel gauge itself?

It's on the right side of the display - calculate your milage & multiply by 5.8 - that should give you YOUR safe limit.

Thanks for the information Dragonrider

Thanks, for the information Dragonrider....I will be keeping an eye out for it, as I have never seen it yet. I guess that shows that I don't have the milage thing down quite yet....Have found that it is varying some depending on all the variables ....Speed, Wind, load, etc. seems to be around 30 most of time....75 mph will get it down to about 26-27.....only have about 2600 miles on it, but planning on a trip down to the Skyline drive and Blue Ridge Parkway around the end of the month......

Thanks, again everyone:clap::cheers:

Low fuel light

I have the 2011 Spyder Limited also and this is what I discovered just this morning. I went 137.5 miles and the low fuel light came on just as I was pulling into the gas station. I filled up as far as it would go and it took 4.42 gallons. Sooooo, I believe that left the spyder roughly with 2 gallons. I'm not one to push the gas issue either but it is nice to know that.:clap:

A run last week I pulled 150 mile run and the light came on on the ramp to a Gas station. I topped the tank off at 4.9 gal and calculated 30.2 miles per gal. That is the most I have put on between refills. Bob 2011 RTS

Was wondering what that damn flashin red "R" was

Took me a few miles to figure out it meant RESERVE lol good thing a gas station was close by. Love my Limited but don't want to push her down the street.

The flashing "R" means you are in reverse. The low fuel warning shows a gas pump, and doesn't flash. Your manual has an explanation of all these icons.

My light came on the other day and I went about 15 miles and was able to put 6.3 gallons in it. My wife was not happy with me at all. :roflblack:

Finally!!!!

Well a few days ago, my wife and I were out riding, and we kept going after we had about 140, then 150 then finally at about 154 miles......:clap:Low and behold.....the Gas light came on..........:yikes:Needless to say it was a releif just to know it worked, as my Gas Guage had been on Empty for several miles....This was a new guage that had just been replaced a week or so before....but any way...I proceded to a gas station and filled it up and it took 4.6 gallons. I guess now I can figure out that if I figure about 30 mpg. I will be safe for the most part.....also I know when the light comes on I still have a good Gallon or just a little over left.....:ohyea:I FEEL MUCH BETTER NOW....Thanks, to every one who answered my question.........HAPPY SPYDER-ING !!!!!!!!!

I have the same 2011 rt limited and on our trip to San Fran (we just got back) we were getting 170m per tank filing it at the fuel station with 5.1 gallons, that's 2 up riding at 65 miles per hour seems to be the sweet spot and fully loaded truck and side bags. Fuel light was coming on at about 160miles.
