Corbin RT Seat Installed

Y Rider

New member
I really love riding my RT Spyder but after about an hour I am pretty much done and have to get off for awhile. So after reading several threads on Corbin seats I ordered one about a month ago from Cowtown USA. I picked it up last Tuesday and installed it the next day. The install took me about an hour but I wasn't rushing. The seat, trunkrest and backrest are fairly easy to install. After making a couple more adjustments to the driver backrest I believe I now have it dialed in. Today I took the Spyder out for a lengthy cruise and am happy to say that even after an hour of riding I was still good for more. The quality of the seat is excellent. I was able to line the locking pin up perfectly by loosening the 3 bolts mounting the hinge plate. The bolt holes are slotted and give about a half inch adjustment range. Once the pin was aligned I tightened up the bolts and all works perfectly. So far I am very happy with this Corbin seat. :2thumbs:

NICE

I just keep getting more excited to get my new Corbin on Tuesday..thanks for pics..helps me in my decisions that I will have to make
SOON...I ryde in Tuesday a.m. and will be living (and loving) that afternoon...wow...nice...and I have already found a couple Spyderlovers to become new owners of my current seat and backrest AND Corbin has agreed to ship them out for me. Now that is a notch in their customer service gun!!!
OK suns up...gotta pack up, saddle up and head for next leg getting me closer to Hollister, CA and that new Corbin...

I forgot to mention in my original post that the seat was ordered with the "Lamonster Cut". It is a perfect fit for me. I am very happy that I went this way. :ohyea:

I keep hoping to fall into a pickle-barrel full of hundreds and come out with full pockets so that I "Corbonize" before dying of embarassment...:opps: and a sore butt!
Question: LaMonster cut?? How can somebody tell exactly what to specify for these seats so that they fit what God has graced us with perfectly?

The best way is to go to the factory and have it fitted to you.
The "Lamonster Cut" could easily be called the "Tractor Seat Cut" as I customized my first seat based off of an old steel tractor seat I have here. I figured if those farmers could work the fields all day in a seat like that there had to be something to the way they are shaped. So far I was right and that's where the "Lamonster Cut" came from. :doorag:

I know that those steel "bucket tops" work surprisingly well; but being an old tenderbottom at heart... :opps:
Since getting to the factory won't happen, should I call and discuss measurements with them? I guess that I'm pretty much an "off the shelf" standard... but health issues make my legs a bit finicky...
As long as I don't end up with this cut seat... :roflblack:

My derriere ain't all that big. At least that's what my wife tells me. The Lamonster cut keeps me secure in the seat AND helps to prevent some sliding around with the standardized cut. I've had both and I think the Lamonster cut has been a big improvement.

Well I've been called a "Big A$$" and a "Dumb A$$", but I don'rt think that either was referring to physical characteristics... :D
When I'm ready to start the process I guess that a call to them will be the best start!

I saw your Lamonster cut seat on a previous thread you provided, and i liked it very much. To this end I have a couple of questions;
1. I am about 5'9 and 180 lbs...medium build. Will the cut of the Lamonster seat work for someone of my size?
2. Is the tractor seat cut dependent on size such as height, inseam length or butt size?

I am considering ordering the seat fm Corbin in Ormandy Beach. Is the Lamonster seat a stock seat now that I can just order, or must I be sized for it?

How long was the installation? Any idea of approximate cost of seat and installation by Corbin? I have a 2011 SE 5 RT Ltd.

Thx...dave

I just want to be comfortable.

The "Lamonster Cut" seems to work for just about anyone. There have been a few smaller women that have this cut and larger men and so far so good. You would have to order that cut when you order the seat. I don't think they stock them but Mike Corbin did say they sell a lot of them with that mod now.

I'm pretty sure the install is free if you go down there but I would call and make sure. You can check the prices on the website and if you order during a rally there is a 10% discount.

The Lamonster cut should fit you very well. I'm 6' and weigh 190 lbs. The installation is free. Depending on what all you are getting it should take anywhere from an hour for just the seat to probably three hours for seat, backrest, passenger backrest and armrests.

When you call ask for either Don or Carlos. They both are experienced at installing. Oh, and I have a 2010 RT-S. Hope this helps.

It only took two weeks for mine to come in and install free.
