• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Extended warranty?

I recently purchased a 2011 RT-S SE5. I've had it a couple weeks and have driven about 350 miles. Like it so far. I am new to the world of Spyders. I have never owned a motorcycle. I read many problems people are having with the Spyders...I'm sure there are thousands out there without problems. Should I buy the extended warranty? What does it cover?

This is coming from someone who Never purchased a extended warranty of any kind, My advice to you ; ''Get the extended warranty''

I think the best price for the BRP BEST warranty can be gotten from Bert's Mega Mall; a supporting vendor of this site.

ITHO * In TEDDYS Humble Opinion

What does T E D D Y say ?????

He says, :agree: & if your not mechanically inclined (like his owner:opps:) to do your own oil changes & routine maintenance on the SpYder (Im learn'n) then it would be in your BEST interest financially to look into getting the B.E.S.T.+ Warrantee that also covers all of your routine maintenance costs as well. Different dealers offer them at different costs, but ALL of the SpYder Dealers accept them:thumbup: I have 1 dealer that charges $109/hr:yikes:for labor & another that only charges $70/hr. So if you have a higher rate dealer, then you can really save a lot by getting the B.E.S.T. + & paying a smaller amount upfront. But you have to do the math to see how you would fair. Obviously, if your dealer has a lower rate per hour, then you won't save as much. & if you can do the routine maintenance yourself, then it wouldn't be worth getting at all. These Spyders are still new & their longevity is still to be seen, so if you can afford upfront, protect your investment & yourself:thumbup:

Example: Just had 9000 mile service done yesterday at my dealer (:firstplace:Middletown Cycle:firstplace:$70/hr) & the total was right at $270 but all I paid was my $50 deductible:yes:
I'm pretty sure I translated TEDDYS ruff...ruff ruff ruff....ruff ruff correctly :roflblack:

Here's the reason to get the B.E.S.T. warranty: It's transferable when you sell the Spyder.

Meaning, even if you don't keep yours past the manufacturer's warranty, when you sell you can still market the peace of mind that comes with the extended warranty.

As many on the board have noted, a lot of owners have had no serious problems at all with their Spyders, nothing more than the usual aches and pains all vehicles get.

But those that *have* sadly had trouble... whoa Nellie, do you ever need that warranty.

I know that if I was buying used, I'd look at one with a warranty still in effect before I'd consider those outside of warranty coverage.

Purchase!

Definitely purchase an extended warranty. Even if you decide to sell the spyder on down the road, the extended warranty will be a selling point.

Agree with all the above--- but make sure you get the BRP B.E.S.T. warranty ! Don't let your dealer sell you on some other brand -- some have done that and then later had problems with coverage.

:congrats: and :welcome:

I have the BEST warranty. I have used it twice and it has paid for its self. Congratulations on your new ride
