• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I just bought my spyder and the dealer is quoting me $149.00 for and oil change? Which I thought was very high. Is this a typica dealer cost? How many of you change the oil yourselves?

Some charge less-- some charge more --- you can do it yourself for around $40.

Do a search out here for 'oil change' and there is good info on doing them. Baja Ron sells the filter kits for a very reasonable price....

You think thats bad,Wait till you get the quote for the 12 thousand mile service. :D

I just changed the oil in both my Spyders with Mobil #1. It cost $60.00 per bike. It's very easy to change the oil. Just remember to drain the tranny too. The oil filter is the same one used on the Harley Burell.

Steve, which Mobil 1 did you use? I have used the 15w-50 synthetic in my Gold Wing for years, but BRP says don't use oil with SM on the label. Is the RS easier to change than the RT, which I have.

From BajaRon:

4 Oil Filters + 4 Seal Kits - $45.50 + $5.00 shipping
So $50 for 4 sets = $12.50 for seal, washers and filter.

I use BRP XPS Full-Syn oil that I got for $7.00/quart x 4 courts = $28.00.
Once my stock of BRP full-syn runs out I'll have to switch to another....

$40.50 total for SM5 oil change.

The auto trans models will cost more because you will need an extra filter to do a complete job.
I use amsoil and BRP filters. Shifts a lot smoother and it meets all of the specs shown in the owners manual. It is the only syn oil I found that met them all.

According to the HiFlow filter chart they are the same HF564 filters.....

I just get them from Baja Ron--- good price - quick ship.

George,
I used Mobil #1 motorcycle racing oil and tranny oil for wet clutch. Think it was 10-40 for V-twin engins. As far as changing goes they are the same. I've changed the plugs from Allen wrench to a 1/2" nut on the plug. Easy to remove with a socket.

It is the same filter for the Buell using the Rotax 1125 engine only.
