• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

RT Trailer storage??????

Please help. At the time I built my custom garage for my RT, I designed it for just about the RT, tools and helmets. Now that we decided to do some long distance traveling we bought a trailer and expect delivery in one week. Never did I think about doing the math to see if it fits into the RT garage. It turns out that the only way I can make it fit is to tilt it back resting on the back end.
My question for anyone is ok to tilt it back and store it that way. Of course I will have a thick pad and the area carpet.
Would like very much to hear from you.
Thank you
Scottyb

Since the trailer weighs in at 250 pounds empty (100 pounds heavier than my Bushtec did), I would be inclined to doubt that that trailer body is designed with storing it standing on the backend in mind.

I would not recommend it, but that is just a guess.

I would not standing it up on it's end for storage. I would buy the cover for it and let it set outside first. JMHO

stooopid question here... :opps:

"By "Tilting back"; do you mean tires and tail of the trailer on the ground to support the weight, or are the tires up in the air also?

You could also hang it from the ceiling via a hitch ball setup with a cable crank like the ones used to load a boat onto a trailer. You would need to beef up the ceiling area in your attic above that location. Not impossible.

Yep yep yep. I agree with cougar. It would be fairly easy to setup a comealong to pull it up the wall. Be sure to place a support across the ceiling joists up in the attic and attach to that for strength.

I considered this, but rejected the idea due to the likelihood of possible body and paint damage...at least in time. I considered building some frame extensions with insertable "nerf bars" to support the trailer and protect it, but it was fairly complicated, and way too much work. In the end, I covered it and set it outside. I'll have to come up with a better answer by winter. Have you considered adding a lean-to to your garage?

Could always try something like this.

Depending on how often you use the trailer.....
According to the service manual there are only 8 bolts to undo to separate the body from the chassis.
You could then stow the chassis on end in the corner or elevated somewhere and ....use the body as the dog bed??? or for storage??
or an ornament in your living area
or even suspend that from another area (much less weight without the chassis)
Of course if you are using it regularly that would be a total PITA.

Come on guys....suggestions for things to do with trailers when they are not being used..I know you've all got vivid imaginations

If you are a tradesman you could hitch it to the back of your SUV as a tool box :roflblack::roflblack::roflblack:
cheers
