• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Route from Maggie Valley to Lamonsters BBQ

There are several routes to make the trip from M/V to the BBQ (and back) and I have seen earlier posts about some of these roads, but I sure would appreciate Lamont's insight on the routes.

Just some quick comments about Fast vs Scenic, etc, etc would be helpful....

Short-cut Route to Lamonts bbq....

So based on Lamont's recommendation, a group of us headed over from MV on the 209 route. Great road, like the Dragon in spots, beautiful scenery...

When we got to Hot Springs NC we took a break, then headed on but my GPS was set to "shortest" route so we went up River Road which after a few miles turned into a gravel forest road. At that point most of the group turned around to find the "right" way, but "Bullant12" and us kept going (2 Silver RTs), thinking we would soon hit a major hwy. After a few miles on the forest road things deteriorated even more with lots of ruts, mudholes, etc, but by then we were determined not to turn back.
Here's where we crossed the top of a ridge called "Lone Pine Gap"!

Finally after about 9 miles of off-roading, we came down the mountain to Hwy 107 and headed on to Lamont's on the hardtop and arrived there soon after our friends that went the fast route!
What an experience, I'll bet even Lamont hasnt ridden a Spyder over Lone Pine Gap on Paint Creek Road! :gaah:
