CB Problems

I talked to BRP Tuesday again about the dealer saying that a new cluster will not fix the problem. So I'm waiting for either BRP to call me about this problem or the dealer to let me know that BRP has contacted them about replaceing the cluster. My other posting on this is titled " Is the Tech correct or is he Stupid?" This post will tell you more about my visit to the dealer on Saturday 5/14.

Sure hope someone from BRP calls me about my CB problem.

CB (tx) problem SOLVED...FIXED

Ruthie,
Your dealer is sorely mistaken. Just plain wrong. You will notice that I started this thread back in Oct. 2010. So trust me, I'm on top of this CB(tx) problem. Yesterday, Kim and I had our 2010 instrument clusters changed out for two 2011 RT instrument clusters and the (tx) problem is gone.. I can assure you that the instrument cluster change will solve your problem.. Hallelujah... what a relief from an extremely annoying problem. Our communications and sound system on both our Spyders is NOW..100%. Thank you BRP and Elizabethton TN Spyder dealer.

Show this message to your dealer and get him or her on the right track to fix this problem... I hope this helps... Len

Thank you Jornie1, your dealer, and BRP for your dedication to see this issue resolved.:firstplace:

...And you can also show your dealer this posting. I just returned from my dealer and my year+ problem with the TX appears to have been solved. In addition to a new instrument cluster my AM/FM radio was replaced. BRP says that that was necessary because both radios are integrated. It was BRP that told my dealer what to order. It only took three days to get the parts.

I go tomorrow to get a new cluster installed. Thanks to BRP for customer service and listening to their customers. will let you know how it goes tomorrow.

did everyone who had the fix have their radio replaced as well? was it all part of that one part number mentioned above for this fix?

"the part # for the cluster is 710002717"

My dealer called yesterday and said my 2011 cluster was in and the part number had been replaced by a new number. I asked him to verify that it was not a 2010 cluster and he said he was sure it was not. I will call the dealer today and get the new part number for FYI.

I'm getting the cluster replaced but NOT the radio. Supposedly there is no need to replace the radio. That's the story I got.

Yes add me to the list of people who called the dealership and they had no idea what I was talking about.
Said it was not on there BRP bulletin.

I got the new cluster replaced today and had not problem with the
TX for the 2 hour ride home. Hope this fix the CB issue for good. No, the radio was not replaced.

If you get the cluster replaced be sure you write down your mileage. I fail to do so when I left it and the dealer only write the hours on the engine down. I think I can get very close to what the miles was. To me this was very bad on the dealer part not recording the miles at replacement.

One more week till our trip to Niagara Falls and Americade.:2thumbs:

Picked up spyder Problem with TX fixed.

Told dealer to write down mileage. Even called to remind. They forgot. I guessed mileage when dropped off. So should be close

They brought up a good point about mileage and next inspection. The mileage reported to the state will be less then previous inspection.

They call dot but still no answer. I asked for a letter from dealer stating mileage.

One other thing. The rear airbag control on my RTS is now showing manual.

Wonder if that is due to new cluster and something needs reset.

Sounds like your new cluster has the programming problem that led to the warranty bulletin on the ACS. Your dealer needs to hook your Spyder up to BUDS and reset the ride height limits. The high and low limits were programmed with the same number.

Thanks. Have a parade to ride in Monday. So back to the shop will have to wait until Thursday

Assume it's ok to ride in manual mode.

Yes, you can ride in manual mode. You will just have to gauge the ride-height by guess and by gosh. I ran mine all the way up and down sitting in the garage (engine running and in gear), then picked a spot in the middle. It won't maintain that height if you change the load, like add a passenger, but it should stay pretty close. as an alternative, you can check the pressure at the Schrader valve under the seat, then set it according to the manual for a a plain RT or A&C.

Just coming in to this with a negative comment...

BRP needs to get the info correct or dealers need to stop relaying bogus info... I will say that it may be BRP simply needing to improve on the communication to the dealers. If we have learned anything... It is the internet will always out run the internal distribution of information.

For example. Our blinker issue. Another example... The CB issue that "Looks" like Carlo has found a solution to, yet our dealer was told by BRP that there is no issue and that there is no fix to our CB issue... On top of that, they claim it is the first they ever heard of it... HUH???

Not only that but I have heard from three different dealerships now (Two in WA. one in OR.) that have ZERO confidence in the Email address that BRP gives to their techs looking for info. Two of these three say in the past 12 months + they have not received a single response to their questions...

So what is happening here?

Is there really a fix or did I spend $800 on a piece of hardware that will not function even close to the quality of the Radio Shack specials for $80 (Meaning I could have saved $720 on the CB as it is not functioning correctly but the $80 RS ones do)?...

new display worked 100% fine for me  for the CB TX sticking issue. no longer sticks!

no delay .. now to just get my transmit sound quality to increase. sounds like I have a ton of background white noise when transmitting. can receive clearly from others just my transmitting is not clean. :spyder: its useable for leading rides now but not the best yet. will probably take Phils advice and find a specialist that deals with CB motorcycle radios and have them see if they can provide a better antenna solution and check the SNR to see if I am optimize for transmission.

oh Scotty BTW stopped at dealer on Memorial day and they squeezed me in to reset the hi and low rear shock setting so all is well there now ... was riding too low at night and beaming people with the low beams before the fix.

I guess you got new cluster, if so do you have a Trip B that works?
Are you sure your trip meter doesn't work. They are easily paused accidentally. With the chosen trip meter showing, the display should read "Pause". If it says "Resume", it is frozen.

That's why Scotty
is "The Man" with the answers. Great site right?
