• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Loctite

I’m familiar with red and blue colored loctite, but when I remove a bolt from my Spyder I notice Yellow residue on the threads, is that a loctite product or maybe anti seize?

It's similar to loctite but more wax type, The bolts with it on can be removed and put back on quite a few times with out reapplying the yellow stuff.

i need to replace a couple of bolts, so i need to know what it is.
Blue Loctite is about the same especially in the wax stick form. The Can Am threadlocker is only available from your dearler and is only sold in a large size and expensive as far a I know...

Loctite isn't good for the tupperware (panels). It's kind of hard to slide the bolt with loctite on back thru the tupperware hole and not get any on the tupperware. That is of course if you are talking panels.

3M™ Fastener Adhesives 2353 (blue) and 2353Y (yellow) are microencapsulated, room-temperature curing adhesives that enhance the anchorage of threaded fasteners. The adhesives are designed to be coated on the fasteners and dried; they remain dormant until the shearing action of engaging the fastener into a nut or threaded cavity breaks the capsules and allows the adhesive to cure. Typical applications are fasteners for the engine compartment or safety-related parts.
This is a normal temp formula that is designed for applications where the service temperature will not exceed 116°C (240°F).

Fasteners with these products can be reused a few times, provided the fasteners are not wire brushed or cleaned with toluene or a similar solvent.

Sorry, I'm busy in the garage working on the Spyder. :roflblack:

I researched this a while back, when I was curious as to the dried-up thread-locker on the factory screws. I like that they can be reused...although they don't hold quite as well the second time, according to the product data sheet.
