HMF Exhaust doesn't fit 2011 Spyder

My rear fender was still on when I put that pipe on my bike. So, that theory is shot down. Is that your mounting bracket idea ??? Good job !!! Sorry about the engineer joke if that hurt your feelings. I work with alot of them. They tend to know a little about everything, and alot about nothing. nojoke And remember we are only trying to help you, with only an occasional engineer joke. :thumbup:

With your new bracket idea has the pipe moved in towards the bike more now than if you didn't use the bracket. And where is the spacer ??? If you used the spacer, I don't think you would have had any of your problems.

I see arntufun's picture he has a link between his muffler and his mounting hole i do not have this on mine i just hooked the muffler band directly to the bike and it clears everything the parking brake and my givi bags.

I tried the spacer and it still would rub, but more importantly, I would have had about 1/16" of overlap at the connection of the two pipes. That's no good. This is why I believe the distance from the elbow to the connection end is not the correct length. Had it been an inch longer, no issues would have been presented.

Is everything correct now and working fine ? Because I'm really impressed with my pipe itself, and definitly the price is outstanding for the pipe.

Everything is working great! The pipe is really quite louder than I expected, but is sounds AWESOME! I did have some decel pop, so I ordered the O2 mod.

Same issue I had when I put mine on. The 02 mod pretty much takes care of the issue. It sometimes still happens, but I may have a bad gasket somewhere. I love the sound !!!

HMF Muffler

One other thing you can do when mounting the HMF. I heard some comments about not wanting to force(the Muffler) out away(With a spacer) from hitting the parking brake mechanism. I compromised by using a smaller spacer and trimming the metal tabs that stick out toward the muffler with a grinder. These tabs that hold the cable do not need to be that long,so I trimmed and painted them.

Sorry to here of all the install problems with the HMF pipe.
My carbon fiber HMF installed in 15 min. without any problems and has tons of clearance. I have a 2011 RSS-SE5 with the rear fender still on. You need to use both spacers the one from the factory & the one supplied by HMF. Use on the outside of the rear foot peg. Will post pics if you need some.:dontknow:

While this looks good and may work-- I'd be concerned it will bottom out against your parking brake mechanism--- been there done that! You'd be surprised how much travel you can have on the rear shock when hitting bumps!

The real problem here with HMF doesn't seem to be the height--- the darn pipe just needs to be another 1.5" OUT from the bike...

They need to make the other part of the 90 an inch or so longer... or change the angle to bring it out further-- and then provide a nice spacer for the hanger bracket.

I agree with the longer 90. Instead of a nice spacer for the hanger, they need to make the hanger more like the Hindle bracket. With the Hindle, the mounting hole is almost flush with the back side of the muffler instead of over the center of the muffler like the HMF hanger is. That would guarantee enough clearance for the brake mechanism and the fender brackets.
