• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Ditto-- they'll get over it.

Here are the arguments to make:

Nervous wife / girlfriend: the Spyder is more stable than a motorcycle, allowing you to pay far more attention to the traffic than to the road conditions beneath your wheels. It's riskier than driving a car, but it's *managed* risk, and you will wear all your gear all the time (right?).

Plus, she's your beneficiary. :D

Laughing son(s): Take them go-karting. Ask them if its fun. If they say yes, then they know what a Spyder feels like. If they say no, they'll move out of the house soon enough. :joke:

:welcome: & :congrats: At first wife was not interested at all and then she got interested at the dealership when we went to first look at the RS ,when she sat on the RT she was hooked. WE bought the RT S . For her birthday I bought her a very good jacket and suggested she buy very good riding pants ,helmet and boots and She did . She can ride all day and feel very comfortable. SO HAPPY WIFE HAPPY LIFE :roflblack::roflblack: The kids once they go for a ride they will want one too but probably the RSS version.:roflblack:

:congrats: At 16 nothing dad does is acceptable, enjoy it, after one ride the wife will love it. Mine would not ride on 2 wheels, got the spyder home and she asked me to take her for a ride, I couldn't believe it. Went out for ice cream yesterday, turned out to be a 100 mile trip....

They will get over it. If the teenager does not want to go to school on dads cool :spyder2:--let him walk or take a bus.

New Riders: Yesterday I had the opportunity to introduce a new person to :spyder2:ing. Has not been on a motorcycle for many years--and hated it. Didn't think they could ever feel comfortable again.

My plan: break it to her gently.

Got her to sit on my RTS. (her original thought--I am plus size and will never fit on that thing). She got on---not bad---I like this seating position.

I coaxed her into a ride around a couple of blocks at 5mph. Cant go fast because fearful of dying from the experience. Took the ride---not bad at all. Willing to cruise my neighborhood road. About a 5 mile loop--went 30 mph and less so she would not even feel g-forces on the turns.

At the end of the loop she said---If you want to go for a longer ride---that's fine with me. We went out to the highway (65 mph speed limit). I forwarned her that it would APPEAR we are going faster that we really are at first--just because of our proximity to the road. She noted that we were maintainig speed with most cars and some were passing us in the fast line. Her comments--this thing really rides nice.

Fifty miles later I pull into the driveway. Her comments: You know, I really like this---I have not had this much fun in years.

Result: I have introduced a new person to the fun of riding--that can't wait for my Thursday night motorcycle club ride.

Therefore Grasshopper: All problems can be worked out.

Good story!! Similar to my Mother-in-law's 1st :spyder2:rYding experience... except that :shemademe_smilie: (not my wife!!). Note: David over at my dealer calls me a brave man because of this...
Soon to do this to some good friends of mine (I refered him to the forum...) but she's a little comprehensive about riding all together. Told her that once Gray :spyder2: is out (yes, should be out this week, all the parts came in late Friday) I would take her for a trial run... probably something similar to akspyderman...:helpsmilie::roflblack:

My 19 year old daughter was so mad at me for buying the spyder (remembers my two-wheeler crash), but so wanted to ryde it when she came home on leave and saw it.

Okay got spyder yesterday.....took it for a short spin before leaving dealer...wife asked to ride so made a second trip.....got home...took oldest son for ride now he wants to learn...(19 maybe getting some sense)....had to take wife on ride 2 more times.....16 year old pissed and still refusing....got to love teenagers...dad can never be right....19 year old apologized for doubting and said was not what he thought it was....:roflblack::roflblack:

Glad to hear the family is coming around -- as for the youngest -- when he asks for the keys - throw him the keys to shed and let him take a bicycle -- just kidding -- he will come around!!! :joke: :2thumbs:

It's funny how things can work out... When my kid was 16 I was the dumbest Essobee on the planet... Today... not so much! :D:thumbup:
