You must be dreaming. :roflblack:700 + miles with todays fuel cost pulling a trailer. Good luck finding some one I know in my truck it would cost me at lest $250 in fuel one way

So if you are heading to Spyderfest and your traveling thru SC on your way to Cuba and you had room on your trailer for another Spyder wouldn't you then have the cost of your gas covered plus $250 cash? Thank you for your well thought out input.

If you could get it to Charlotte area I have a good reliable friend who would drive it to Cuba for expenses (fuel, food, motel), return air fare plus a few bucks for his time? ..... :dontknow:

It way more miles than that. According to mapquest it is 944 miles. In my Toyota Tundra which gets 15 mpg (pulling nothing but me), that would be $250+ in fuel at $4.00 a gallon if my math is right. My trailer is 14' long and 3000 lbs. So add that 3000 LB trailer and that Spyder that he has. The MPG would fall off the chart. Isn't this the guy with the Spyder thats about 12' long and one inch off the ground with that fat tire on the back ??? And god forbid, if something happened to that bike. Maybe, he does not need it towed back ???

If it is the Spyder I'm thinking of, you can't drive that thing 9 blocks let alone 900 miles. One pothole and that bike would explode !!!

The ryde has air shocks I believe and can be raised about 3" or so...

It's about 940 miles from Charleston to Cuba MO
Most SC and NC ryders that I know ryde to Spyderfest.
Highly unlikely you will find somone in the area trailering their Spyder in an enclosed trailer that has enough room for the Spyder as well.
$500 is not nearly enough imho, to be responsible for trailering that Spyder that distance. perhaps $500 plus expenses....

If you can afford that Spyder, you should be able to afford to have them deliver it to Cuba for you.:doorag:

Besides, why take the chance with someone you don't know that really has no vested interest in your ryde taking care of it in the first place?:dontknow:

Good luck, I can't wait to see it. I also am sorry that several have made some unnecessary sarcastic comments. If they think it is to low then they didn't have to reply. Again good luck my friend and I'll see you in Cuba.

Also, if you are travelling through SC on the way to Spyderfest, you won't be passing by Charleston unless you live there. You would have to go out of you way to get to Charleston. Charleston SC is right on the coast just like Beaufort is. Charleston is a destination, not a pass thru point, unless you are cruising along the Atlantic coast.:doorag:

:agree:
You need to have someone who will be responsible for the transport and if I paid that much for a custom Spyder I would never let any Joe haul it for me. Just saying :doorag:

I understand your comment and tend to agree- I was trying to be objective, not sarcastic.

Anyway, hope ALL of you have a great time in Cuba!

Thanks for the info. I always wondered how he could drive that Spyder anywhere. Even so, 3" might not still be enough clearance from the ramp of the trailer to the trailer bed. My Spyder cuts it close. Your right not nearly enough $$$$ for the responsibility. He might be better off with a trucking company. Well, I wish him luck finding a ride.

Thank you for your thoughts.

:hun: It not about affordability, its about availability. I would gladly pay a transport company to move the bike from Charleston to Cuba, unfortunetly every company I have contacted over the last 3 weeks could not guarantee delivery on time for Spyderfest. I figured since a lot of people would be traveling from south of Cuba to Spyderfest I would throw it out there and see what happens. I figured since we are all part of Spyderlovers my chances of ending up with a good guy and not " any Joe" would be pretty good.

:popcorn:P.S. Does anyone know where I can get one of those awesome yellow helmet things that 'ARNTUFUN is sporting. I think we should all have those!!

I was not dissing your Spyder by any means. I was saying to the gentlemen that was inquiring about driving your spyder to Cuba for you, it is not a Spyder that is capable to be ridin like ours are. It is for show only. Thats all. Maybe I could have made my words a little more clearer to interpret. And for that I'm sorry.

Now, what do you have to say about my wife and her helmet ??? I would like you to explain yourself a little more clearer to me, as I did for you. on that topic.

Actually, I plan on riding this bike as much as I ride my 2008 RS. Hopefully about 4000 miles a year-season is pretty short here in MN-although my sister put about 12000 mls on her RS last year. She needs to get a job. Snowed about 3 inches here today so I am really looking forward to riding in Cuba without a snowmobile suit on.

As for your wife and her helmet, I think its awesome!!. :chill:

It's so easy to misinterpret what someone writes online and take things the wrong way. I know I have been guilty of that!:opps:

I hope you find someone/ some company to help you out as you sure will be pooped driving to chucktown and then to Cuba.

If you can't find anyone, perhaps you could fly to Charleston and rent truck and trailer?

I would almost think you would need a liftgate. As it was stated before, the clearance is so minimal I'd be concerned w/ scraping the nose or something else.:dontknow:

In any case, a month from now I'll bet you'll have some great stories to tell!

Best of luck and enjoy Spyderfest!
