There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. WTB 2011 RT-S SE5 (Silver Or Magnesium whatever they call the color)

Hi all,
I am a new member here. I have come over from the M109Riders. No I did not give up my 9..... But I am looking for my wife a RT-S SE5. She had a V-Star 1100 Classic and was never comfortable on it. Only had it for a year. Well, we did a Demo the other day and she told me "Yep, this one's for me". So with that said I am looking for an RT-S SE5. Is there anything different from year to year on the RT versions. Is there anything I should look for, or be aware of. I have looked at the few places around town and the the best "cash" price I could get was 28,500 OTD for a 2011 RT-S SE5. I think that there are better deals out there than what I have been told but just wanted to hear from the forum. I am in AZ. Since this will be a new bike, any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Shane

:welcome: and I think your wife is making a great decision. I tried 2 wheels and didn't feel comfortable either. I started riding a Spyder last June and put 10,000 miles on them before winter.

The price you quoted sounds like MSRP. There have been a few changes from 2010 to 2011 including a new windshield (smaller) and a change to the shocks which everyone seems to like. I'm sure others will pipe in with all of the changes.

Good luck with your shopping and tell your wife to join the forum too.

Hey there! Just got off the phone with the gentleman that sold me my RT-S SE5 and he was real curious about that price of $28,500 OTD. Couple of things come to mind... Are you looking at the 2011 RT-S Limited? If so, that price really isn't too out of line. Scott said that he would get you OTD for $28,100 for the White Limited, while any of the other colors (red, blue, silver or black) in the RT-S SE5 would run $26,900 OTD. Give him a call, if you wish. His name is Scott Lemon (no pun intended!). He works for SK Northwest here in Portland, OR and the phone number is 503-238-2510. Good luck, my friend, in your search! I sincerely hope you find what you want for the price you want!

Regarding this being for your wife, I'd been trying to get my wife, Kathy (aka MsKitty), on two wheels for the past six years. She's vertically impaired and terribly afraid of dumping the bike(s). I made the "mistake" of letting her ryde my RT-S last December and we are now a very happy two-SpYder family. I flew down to Phoenix in mid-December to pick up her "new" used RT-AC (it had a whopping 719 miles on it when I headed for home). Over the past two months, she's put over 2,000 miles on it. She LOVES it!!! Hopefully, so will your wife!

Take care and RYDE ON!!!

There have been several really good buys on lightly used RT S' on the forum - the only real difference is a shock upgrade from the 10s to 11s, which is a cheap fix.

I had great luck shipping my bike from NH to Oregon, and would not hesitate to do it again, and I was able to get a great deal on the BEST full 5yr warranty on my bike to boot.

If new is a requirement, the dealer in Cuba, MO seems to offer the best deals and customer service I've seen on the forum, and they are a supporting member.

Remember there are (now) 4 levels of RTs - the lower three have a manual 5spd option, which would save you $1500, but most who have the SE5 (semi-auto) really like it - myself included.

Dragon,
I am up for a used RT-S as well, but the wife is really hooked on the 2011 Silver RT-S SE5. I have been calling around but the Silver seems to be very popular. I was thinking of getting the extended warranty when I purchase the RT-S for (5 years). Am I better to purchase the extended warranty when I purchase the RT-S or is there better deals out there? I do want the extended warranty to be a factory Can-Am warranty, that way there are no issue where ever I might be.

Buy the extended warranty when you buy the bike - you should be able to get the full 5 years (2+3) for under $900 - perhaps less. Waiting 90 days will cost you an additional $75/yr.

Silver was available on the A/C version of the 10s. I really don't think your wife would miss the "S" additions - all the kool stuff is included.

Just got off the phone and was quoted $1K for the extended warranty (2+3) from the folks with the best price so far. Doesn't help with a 9% sales tax.
