• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I took my spyder out today for the first spring ride ( a cool 49 degrees). This was also the first ride since I had the VSS recall, new HMF pipe and a few mods to make her look pretty. So obviously on the first ride of the season, I was so happy and grinning from ear to ear. I'm at the gas station fueling up, and this longhaired bearded guy pulls up to the light on the corner of the gas station in a beatup old chevy car. He looked liked he rides one of those motorcycles that cost a fortune, leak oil and has not taken a shower in two weeks. Well anyway, I'm looking in that direction and he rolls his window down and screams, "Only girls ride three wheels" and drives off. My bubble I was in just bursted and my jaw just dropped. I have never received any type of negative feedback out riding. NEVER !!! The only thing I could think of, was to extend one of my fingers upright. It almost took some of the fun out of the rest of my ride because I kept thinking about it. Why would some person try to ruin my first spring ride ??? :gaah:WWYD ??? (what would you do)

Wow.... that is awful. I've never run into something quite like that, but have had 2 wheelers snicker and behave in a berating sort of manner toward me.

It's my impression that people that act like this are very insecure, naieve people, and are actually envious - either of the attention that the Spyder draws (and away from them), or envious because they don't understand the Spyder - why it's a 3-wheeler; what the Y architecture offers over a 2-wheeler; how it works; etc.

I usually smile to myself and look the other way. Closed minded people are everywhere, and they'll never upset me enough to ruin my enjoyment of our Spyder.

One of the Sports Talk radio hosts here in SE Michigan made some comments about the BRP Spyder ads shown during the Superbowl on his show. He commented how he just didn't understand why anyone would want one of these, how it was like riding with training wheels, etc. His IGNORANCE of the machine was clearly evident, as was his close-mindedness when a few callers tried to explain it and how it made the riding experience more enjoyable and carefree.

I didn't hear all of the exchange he had with callers, but I just laughed to myself. This is the way it will be until HD, Honda, or BMW come out with a reverse 3-wheeler of their own, and then the world will think they're BRILLIANT machines!

We need to consider ourselves "early adopters", and enjoy the spoils and toils of being on the cutting edge. Never mind all the NINKUMPOOPS that are out there!

That's just MHO.

Ryde-On!! Bill

I had something similar happen at bike night a few years ago with the exception that I was told "your not parking there" oh I parked there and wanted so badly to flip him the bird, it was the first and only time it has happened, I did wave and tell him to have a great night....we all ride for the same reason no matter what we choose to ride on....

I think what he meant is

All the chicks love that machine and want to have sex with you and everybody knows these are WAY cooler and EVOLVED from the other bikes on the road:clap:

Spyders rock. haters gonna hate. dont sweat it.:2thumbs:

The only thing I could think of, was to ....
...Send him for a CAT Scan:

:roflblack:

Remember "sticks & stones" and that the only thing the guy showed was that the only thing that surpassed his ignorance was his stupidity. :chill: :ohyea:

Oh well, even Elvis wasn't loved by everyone... If it ever happens again, just be prepared to blow his doors off and show him how a 'girl' rides. Or ask him: well you've got 4 wheels, what's that make you?

suck it up and let it go, WHO CARES, like a previous post said we all ride for the same reason, some like spyder, honda, cowasaki, whatever, don't give up and enjoy....:2thumbs:

Well, I'd buy something else, but I haven't any money left since I paid for the sex-change surgery. :joke:

The thing that bothers me most about this kind of situation is that the idiot making the statement doesn't know anything about the person riding the Spyder.

The Spyder owner very well may be someone that can no longer ride 2 wheels --- perhaps due to an injury--- maybe even a young veteran that was injured fighting for our country.

I'd probably just ignore him--- or if they were on a bike (especially an HD) I would offer to 'run them' and then see what they have to say.

Or if you're leaving --- lay down a nice patch of rubber....:2thumbs:

:agree:There are some people who, If they don't already know, You can't tell'em.:ohyea: But all kidding aside, When your out in the open you have to develop a thick skin , OR the other guy wins.:(

You could have said:

Thank you, that's original.

He probably wouldn't have known how to respond.

Comments like that are not worth getting into an agrument or a fight over. Just consider the source--it sounds like he had a problem--and move on.

:agree: That's a good one. I ride a recumbent bike also, and have had the rare negative comment while riding it. But 99% of the comments are positive.
I saw a bumper sticker a long time ago that said: "You'r laughing at me because I'm different and I'm laughing at you because you'r all the same".

One time while riding my recumbent two 20 year old somethings in a truck (they always seem to be in trucks) pulled up next to me while I was waiting for the light to change. The passenger rolled down his window and pointed at me while laughing. After he was done with his obnoxious laugh I quoted that bumper sticker - "You'r laughing at me because I'm different and I'm laughing at you because you'r all the same".
The look on his face was priceless. I don't know how to describe it, but he looked like he woke up from a dream like he had on a pair of panty hose in a mens locker room. I was laughing so hard that I was crying. I had to wait for the light to go through another cycle before I could get going again. I kept bursting out laughing all the way back home which was about 10 miles.

No matter what they say, positive or negative, I try to always smile, wave and say "Thank you". Can we say WINNING? :D

in a beatup old chevy car. He looked liked he rides one of those motorcycles that cost a fortune, leak oil and has not taken a shower in two weeks.

Considering what he was driving he does not have much room to talk, and from your description he probably would love to ride a H.D.

During my 40000 miles on spyder, I've got 2 middle fingers, both from crotch rockets, 1 " sir, do you know you are on a snowmobile? From a kid and a lot of "I am not looking at that thing" from some HD riders
BUT, spyder was too fun for me to care, even thru all the problems I had with mine.
