• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Rear fender removal question

I am thinking of removing the rear fender and was wondering what some others who have done this think. What are the pro's and con's.

I have the 2011 copper RSS. I know I would need to relocate the tag and get a light. do I need anything else? Thank you

Both my husband and I have removed our rear fenders. Here is a thread that shows my husband's and mine and a few others as well. This should be helpful.

Forgot the thread Deb..... ;-)

I love having it removed. The guy behind me doesn't if it's raining-- throws quite a rooster tail!

Makes it easier for maintenance and cleaning. Looks way cooler--- and your stock fender brackets will eventually crack anyway......

I have but have not been on any long rides yet i like it cause it opens up the back and reduces weight and it gives it that sportbike look.

I removed mine also, looks much better to me, but i had to make a spoiler to keep my wife's back dry on wet roads

Thanks for all the feed back. and Cpt. Jim If you make one of those in matte black I will take itnojoke
I was thinking that it looks a lot better with out so I think I am going to do this mod next.

Deb; thank you for the link. this is going to be a Hugh help. :spyder:

Carbon fiber rear fender mod.

I wanted to remove my rear fender too cause the bulky look wasnt doing it for me, but one the other hand mud on my back isnt too cool either. So I decided to buy a carbon fiber rear fender, cut-off/reshaped it so the plate holder was no longer there, then I moved the license plate to my undertail. it cleaned up the rear end alot. Pics arent great angles but im sure you get the idea.

I changed to a carbon fiber rear fender with a LED tag frame powder coated black. Used matching front fender flaps.

All very true statements.... I'm at 32K miles and I think I'm working my way to a third set of rear fender braces. It looks way cool removed, especially with the Corbin saddlebags.

But your passenger will also get a bath in the rain.
