Does anybody use the front rolling travel bag ?

Well---I've tried finding a trade on this site, and I've tried e-bay. E-bay actually sells them for more money than I can get it at my dealer. Who'd of thunk ?
I found a site where I can pick up the front rolling luggage bag for $179.99 delivered.
Before I drop that much money, has anyone actually used it ?
Do I have a bad case of "I want it because I want it", or does it really offer any value ?
I know last year I just filled a laundry bag and stuffed it in the front. I didn't like this at all, as everything got all jumbled up, and it was impossible to "live out of a suitcase" when the suitcase was just a bag. I'm thinking a real suitcase will keep things more organized. I'm not leaving until mid May so I have some time.
Any ideas ? What have you long distance travelers used ?

Yessir, I have one and I love it. It fits perfectly in the frunk, it's very nice looking, it is well-made and it holds a good amount of stuff. I know it is a bit pricey but if you are traveling with the Spyder this a very good piece of luggage to have. Of course that is just my opinion but I am seriously considering getting another for our second Spyder!

Killerbee and I (Ladybug) were gone for 9 weeks last summer and lived out of duffle bags we put on the passenger seat. Wore shirts and jeans for a couple of days and went to laundromats along the way. This year, I'm taking T-shirts I was going to donate anyhow and just toss them after I wear them. I did upgrade to a duffle bag with wheels this year, because after riding all day, that bag can feel like 100 lbs.

I got the whole set, frunk bag, saddlebag inserts, and trunk insert. The one I use the most is the frunk bag. I love it.

Got it when we got the bike. Have used it a couple of times and find it's very useful. I'd buy one again.

Nancy and I don't use the front trunk for luggage, we reserve that for the side bags. I use BMW R1100RT saddlebag liners on my RT. If you decide to go with the rolling travel bag, remember that the RT takes a different rolling travel bag than the RS. The RT trunk does not have the same shape as the RS trunk. The RS Travel Bag will not fit! The picture you show appears to be the RS Travel Bag. The correct part number for the RT bag is 219400167. The RS bag is 219400098. BRP also has Side Cargo Rigid Travel Bags for the sides of the RT, P/N 219400169 or Soft Side Cargo Travel Bags, P/N 219400172. You can find the complete complement of luggage items for both models at the BRP Online Store.

Used mine for two years, the handle screws break the material...:gaah:

I just checked the BRP site and discovered that the Givi bag liners are only available in Canada. :hun: What's up with that? What is the Givi bag number we are using? I wonder if any of the Kathy's bags from Bob's would work?

I know return this stolen thread back to the original topic. Well at least it was related. :D
I don't know why we can't get the liner bags for the RS here in the US. The BRP version of the bags is R35. Givi calls the the originals V35. I am not aware of any Kathy's liners for the Givi. Twisted Throttle sells their T443 liner bags for the Givi V35 saddlebags.

Could that have been caused by exceeding the "accelerative limits" of the frunkbag??:D
Semi-seriously though... I'd like to find one for travelling; it looks like the perfect carry-on luggage!

I have used mine and loved it BUT it won't fit in my RT-S!!!!:hun: Only fits in my RS!! OOOPPS:gaah:On the RS I have the hard side saddle bags that can be taken off, REALLY nice!! BUT will be going with the RT for this summer. Am not wanting to buy ANY more bags so will put what I have in the TRAILER!!!:ohyea: AND it holds a LOT more than that bag!!:roflblack::roflblack:

Glad I invested in one.

I started out using plastic grocery bags...hated the jumbled mess that seemed to happen. Finally bit the bullet and invested in the BRP and have not regretted the investment. Have used on several multiple day trips..will definitely have for trip to Spyderfest. Fits perfectly and then there is some room for tucking important things like SUDOKU books..kindle...you know those realllly essential things. Sorry but I can't remember where I bought it. It is the BRP luggage but I got it for $30 less than msrp, free ship, no tax...I remember I did a google search for luggage description best price...happy shopping.

It just blows my mind that he knows all of this stuff and can identify a chunk of luggage from a picture and then quote part numbers...:firstplace: You are not only Da Man; You're the All-time MAN! :2thumbs:

If you think I know all this stuff, you are sadly mistaken. All you need to know is where to look it up. As long as you have www.store.spyder.brp.com at your disposal, or have a catalog, anybody can look up these things. :D

Someone once asked Albert Einstein his phone number. He walked over to a table, then looked it up in the phone book. When the reporters expressed amazement that the smartest man in the world would have to do that, he said, "I never clutter my mind with anything I can look up elsewhere."

Can-am made a high quality luggage line, I get plenty of use out of mine and invested in it at a great price, was gonna give you a link to it but they are no longer discounting it. :(

As others have said make sure you order the one for the RT, as the picture you show is a different one.

I myself have pondered getting that piece of luggage and then I thought about it... You are wasting about 1/4 of the space in the frunk just with the material that thing is made out of (wheels,handles,zippers,fasteners,ect.). You will definitely fit a whole lot more in the frunk with a Hefty drawstring bag with odor blocker. The wasted space on that luggage equals three more pairs of shoes my wife can bring along with us on a ONE day trip !!! :roflblack:

The following paragraph is a joke and by no means is created to offend anyone, even those sensitive RT riders. :roflblack:

Those RT guys are not going to give you good advice on this topic, they have more cargo space with more compartments on those RT spyders, than they have items to fill it. No wonder they can drive across the country on them, I belive an aftermarket microwave is a availible option for an RT. :joke:

Take it from a couple that has to survive soley on the frunk of an RS. Every inch counts !!! Good luck with your decision.

artnufun, FYI, Threewheels has an RTS not an RS, so he is spoiled with all that extra room. :)

Fixed the picture

Thanks. I corrected the picture. Same link, same price. I'm still on the fence.
I don't really need the rollers, a suitcase or even gym bag that fits properly would suffice.
I just don't want to use that laundry bag again.
I'm also considering space bags, or the large zip-lock bags to express the air out of the clothes and keep things organized.
Thanks for all the replies.

I'll stick with the two saddlebag inserts for our RT-SM5. when I was in the military and deployable; we could tight pack an buffalo into a fanny pack. that's one skill I never forgot.
