• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Positioning Aftermarket Pipes

I had an HMF pipe on my Spyder and just took it off to put on a Two Brothers pipe (just wanted something a little quiter). There's a groove along the chasis for the pipe to fit into (see pic below), but both the 2Bros and HMF don't fit into that groove very well because they seem to want to be angled higher (see comparison pics below). Has anyone else had this problem? Also, has anyone tried adding a little strapping to the hanger bracket to allow the pipe to hang lower and fit into the groove better? Thanks.

Not sure if I can be much help, but for what it is worth...

Exhaust systems need a little flexibility or they break brackets. That said... I know that ISCI actually includes a single can lowering kit for those that buy the passenger floorboards.

Also the passenger peg extension kit we purchased from BRP actually has a new mounting point lowering the exhaust about 1 1/4" from factory height.

So I see no reasonable reason keeping one from making their own lowering bracket.

I would also like to add that the BRP kit actually mounts way up inside the frame and attaches in three places. So it is solid.

Pics below...

Sorry I can't help you but I am glad I ditched my rear fender so I won't have that problem.

Hmmm... that would solve it. I kind of like that look. Was it much trouble to move your license plate? Would love to see a pic!

BTW bjt - I sent you an email about shipping the old pipe.

It wasn't too hard to move the plate. I tried two different alternate plate mounts before I settled on what worked the best for me. My first mount was using a sportbike motorcycle fender screwed into the undertail pan. That fender included a license plate light that I just connected to the BRP plate light wires that were on the Spyder fender. I liked the look but I had problems with the plate rubbing on the rear tire while riding over bumps.

Deciding to get the plate mounted beside and not over the rear tire, I made a side mount bracket. I bought a lighted license plate frame from Magic Man and ran the plate light wires under the swingarm to the plate frame. That too had a problem in that I used metal that was too thin on my first side mount bracket and lost a license plate on the road in Missouri (only 700 miles into a 7,000 mile road trip). Once we got back home, I remade that bracket out of heavier metal and ran the side mount for another month. My wife is currently using this heavier bracket on her fenderless Spyder.

A month later, I bought a KewlMetal rear rack for my Spyder to hold some rear luggage that I wanted and after I had installed the rack, I saw that I could easily move the plate back up to the spot over the tire and have enough clearance so the plate wouldn't rub on the tire. This is how I'm running to this day. I did all these different mounts in the spring / summer of 2009.
