• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Hi all, I've been reading a bit here over the last few days. A friend on a motorcycle forum I belong to sent me over (I don't know her screen name over here - forgot to ask!), as I am in the final stages leading up to getting a :spyder2:!

I'm going for an SE5, for the same reasons I'm no longer comfortable on two wheels. My dealer has three: a 2009 RS, a 2010 RS, and a 2010 RS-S (SE? - it's the pearl white version). Is there anything that should make any one of those more desirable than the others? These are all new leftover units. :dontknow:

Welcome new spyder lover.

What ever flopps yer mopp!!:roflblack: Get what you feel good on. The color you like and then go for it. If finances are big thing go for the cheaper one. THEY ALL ARE GOOD ONES!!! AND:welcome::congrats:on what ever :spyder2:you choose!!! And then try to get to Cuba Mo for the Spyderfest from 27 April; to 1 May 2011 so you can show off your new ryde!!! We are all looking forward to seeing you there.

LOL! It's gorgeous - I have to see what the price difference is going to end up being. Hubby's self-employed and these days has very little (if any) income, so I've got to exercise a little restraint.......otherwise I'd just go ahead and get a 2011 RT-S! ;)

Can't blame you there. my avatar shows BOTH of mine and the RT-S is a REALLY comfortable ryde!!!

:welcome: You have a BIG decision to make. They are all great--Not to much difference in the 3 models you mentioned--except color, price. You should ask to test drive your favorite two or all three. You may end up liking the feel of one more than the other. If its all about price--then that should make it a little easier. Let us know what you decide.

I agree with the consensus on this one. Get the one you want (as long as you can afford it).

Should be able to drive a better deal on the 09. And I wouldn't wait because the weather is warming and Spyders may get harder to deal on.

Get the one you want as both the 09 and 10's are good machines.

:welcome: Do yourself a favour and test drive the RSS SE and the RTS I know the RTS is more up front but if you are leaning that way it would be cheaper in the long run to get the RTS .

I have a 2009 SE-5 that I spent about 12 grand on over and above the price of the :spyder2: trying to make it into a RTS and never came close ! Took a bath on the trade up to a 2011 RTS Limited.

Funny, I was just thinking about that on my way into town this morning. I will have to look into what payments, etc., would look like if I went that way. I already know the sitting position on the RT feels better to me. If I can get an RT for $5-6K more, it might totally be worth it.

Money always a concern. I had a 2008 GS/RS and loved it, but the seating position borthered my upper legs and not a lot of cargo space ( frunk only ). I now have a 2010 Rt "barebones)and love the difference. Lots of cargo space, heated grip, cruise control
Good luck with any of them. Agree with the others, try to come to cuba

Best of luck choosing the best Spyder for you and your financial situation. Any Spyder will be a good choice.

Getting really excited - got a couple calls about the craigslist ad for my bike today. Both people seemed really interested.

I need to keep some money set aside for a Spyderport. Currently, my bike lives under my covered porch in the summer, in a large storage shed in the winter. The ramp we have for the shed won't work for a Spyder, and if I park the Spyder under the porch, nobody will be able to walk around it! LOL

By any chance are you on the left side of the country? There is a west coast event in the works for August of this year called "Spyders in the Redwoods." All of us out here are tired of all the events being back east or in the midwest so we're taking matters into our own hands. It will be in August in Eureka, CA.

Good luck with your purchase!

Thanks for the heads-up! I'm apparently about halfway in between the two get-togethers - in Colorado. Probably not in the cards for me to go either direction this year. This medical stuff has eaten up most of my leave time.....not to mention which buying a Spyder is going to eat up all of my "play money" (tax refund) for the year. ;)

I'll definitely keep them both in mind for next year!

I agree with the comments regarding the upgrade costs - I had a RS +++++, and now have a RT S SE5 - there's no comparison, I wish I had gone with the RT out of the box, but then, I would have had to wait a year to ride the Spyder (I bought my RS a year before the RT came out.)

It it were my choice, I'd choose a stripped RT over a top of the line RS, but that's just my opinion…
