most every biker, has a knive of some sort. either in a straight blade configuration, or as part of a tool setup. personally... I have both.

I carry a Gerber multi-tool, as well as an EveryDay Carry (EDC) blade; which happens to be a Mantis Knife (out of Annaheim Hills, CA). the Gerber multi-tool has come in handy, in MANY situations. and Mantis offers a good selection of various styles of blades; for a VARIETY of situations.

do any of you carry either one? or what is your preference? I'd be interested in hearing what Spyder riders find comfortable and useful; especially since the bike is not set up the same way as a two wheeler.

I ALWAYS have a knife with, even before I got hurt, was a slight pain to fly with just had to remember to put it my checked.

I loved my gerber air ranger which they do not make any more and I lost in my last motorcycle accident but it had survived my first accident with mild road rash.

I have a gerber fast now.

I carry, all the time, a Smith And Wesson 150 Anniversary Limited Issue lock back that clips inside my pocket. It was given to me as a gift by my company. I also have a smaller Gerber lock back. The Gerber survival I carried in Viet Nam is stored away. And I still have one or two aircrew survival switch blades used for cutting away paracute cords.

Depends on the occasion, areas of travel and destination. We use both and always have a G27 or FNP9 on person as a last resort...

I've been carrying a Swiss Army knife since my dad gave me one at 9. I tell people I can do anything with it including rebuilding an engine or doing an appendectomy. Ok, maybe the engine rebuilding is a stretch.....
I used to have my dad's Air Force pilot's issue switch blade, but have no idea where is has been stored. Good knives and VERY sharp!

This is an odd post...my thoughts were bouncing back and forth like a ping pong ball. Knife - as in part of a tool kit/multi tool and then gun - as in protection? If it comes to protection give me my gun, although the first time I packed it for a bike vacation with my husband he freaked out when I unpacked it in the motel room. I hadn't mentioned that I felt better carrying it. His unease topped my need to "pack" so I no longer carry it. Except for using in a motel room, I never figured that it would do much good while on the bike or on the road. "Excuse me potential offender, would you wait a second while I get off the bike, open a bag and find my gun to point at you?"
My husband carries a cute little Case knife with a 1 1/2" blade that has sentimental value, so my protection and bike repair will just have to lie in his hands.
