• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Scala.... which is the best choice?

I'm about to purchase a Scala communication set. I want the dual set (rider & passanger) with Bluetooth. I would also like the bike-to-bike feature. So I've looked at their website and it looks like there a three choices.... G4 Instructor, G4 Powerset & G4 Multiset, but which is the right choice?

I would like to hear what others have and how well they work for you.

G4 Multiset.
:agree:

We had a pretty good education yesterday at our dealer. The rep was just there. We decided to go with the "Snow" version of the G4.

The rep claimed that a site or two has miss-informed folks. They did not just change the unit from a boom mic to the wired. They also improved the internals to take the abuse of snowmobiling and it is completely water proof like all the G4's are. Not just water resistant like many other models are...

And the speaker with the longest wire is the FM Antana for the internal radio. So he suggested to tuck the unused (Not needed) wire up inside the helmet without lopping it and the reception will improve greatly.

I hope I helped...

It is the cheapest I can find here... http://cyclebots.com/bluetooth-helm...w-powerset-intercom-kit-2-complete-units.html

G4 Snow! $315 w/free shipping. Bought 3 weeks ago. It rocks! Auto Classic..., Classic Auto..., they are located in Maryland.:2thumbs:

Almost forgot... The G4's are backwards compatible to the G2 for communication/connections and I really like the Firmware USB update ability another member here mentioned.

are all the G4's comaptible? Other words....if other bike has the Snow and I have the Multi, would we be able to communicate bike-bike?

Yes... Even the G2's as I mention above...:ohyea::thumbup:

OK....one last question (I hope), is the biggest differance between the G4 Powerset and the G4 Multiset is the range? Looks like the Multi is 1000 ft and the Power is One Mile

Love my G4...love that it gets firmware updates...they can constantly improve any issues...big plus.

The most recent update addressed some issues with the Garmin 550/660...haven't used it since but any update is a good update (so they say)...

Powerset vs. Snowset

I have the powerset and like it just fine. It's nice to get updates via the internet plus I haven't had any "waterproof" issues. In looking at the snow set, it seems it has a mic that can only be used in a full face helmet. Whereas, the powerset units with a boom mic can be used with both an open face and full face.
I can also verify that running the speaker wire across the top of the helmet increases the range of the FM.

This is interesting in regards to the FM as there is no other way to put the speakers in anyway....don't you have to run the wires around the inside of the helmet?

I find that more volume is better (I wear earplugs), but I can hear just fine and the phone function is great!

Sure you can run them another way. Run them around the back of the base in the lining of the helmet and cram the excess wire somewhere in that area. I tried it both ways and for me it works better running over the top of the head. Yes, I run them inside the helmet. :shemademe_smilie:
Besides, I wasn't talking about volume, I was talking about range. :D

Sounds like the update process is pretty straight forward.
