Tricled electric trunk release (tricled.com)

Hello all, does anyone have the tricled electric trunk release? I am a new owner and purchased this at tricled.com but the installation instructions are not that good. Even looking at it on YouTube I still have questions. Where does the two brass clips go and where is the best place to ground the wires. Any help would be much appreciated and pictures of the installation would be even better so I could really see how to install it. Thanks Spyder family.

The supplied perforated plate (mounting bracket) needs to be bent to suit your application. Then, I used one existing bolt and had to drill one hole to mount it. The trick was when mounting a bolt/screw into the drilled hole. I had to use gum and a long screwdriver to hold the nut. You need to mount it so the shaft of the actuator is in a fairly straight line to the factory connection for the trunk release fork. I did not use the 2 brass clips and long bracket mounting screws .

Before mounting the tricled bracket, you will have to mount the actuator. I do not have a picture of it mounted. I believe there is a picture on their web site. Maybe tomorrow I can take a picture.

I have my trunk release so I can energize it without turning on the ignition. I have an Eastern Beaver Co. fuse block located on the underside of my dash. That is where I connected to. I have the pushbutton switch under the handle bar cover.

Welcome DCSpyder...another Spyder in my neck of the woods, very nice.

I never went with any electric release for my GS/RS...just put a spring mod so that it would open easily...sure someone here can help...

The spring comes with the tricled kit. They actually sell the kit to be used once the spyder is running and then you remember there is something in the trunk you want. I decided to hook up so that if I ever lock my key in the trunk I can get to it.

And, I know there are some that have hooked a cable to release the trunk, which is a lot cheaper; but, in my case, price was not a factor.

I modified things a bit And used some pt wood instead of that bracket for a better fit at the desired height, cleaner look this way as well. I ran a new ground from the battery around the entire spyder that I use for my leds and this actuator. Also I found a double fuse that I use to run the power from.
In all, it was a pretty simple instal and works great!

Is the wood glued in place? I bent the perforated plate that came with the kit for a bracket; but, like your idea better.

No, it"s actually srewed and siliconed to the plastic, then the actuator is screwed into the wood. This way everything can be removed easily for the next DPS replacement. :roflblack::roflblack:
