• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Ok this is as much an admission of my stupidity as a warning to others.

I was so hoping for a few warm high performance days that I have left my ultra high performance tires on all winter

It turns out these things are cold natured :)

Every time I start out, after they have completely cold soaked, its let's say interesting
Traction isn't zero, its low but predictable

I ride about five miles each way to work. I do it everyday there isn't any frozen water on the roads.
Needless to say I've developed a very close relationship with VSS Aka Nanny
There are a couple of places that it just throws it's hands up and says sorry sweetheart you are on your own

The problem is when there is not enough traction to engine brake and you do

So you abruptly downshift a SE under
Low traction conditions
First the rear skids smoothly
Then VSS senses the wheel slip and does some that surprised me
It diesel braked the engine without consulting the accelerometers to see it was already deaccelerating
So now the sputtering engine pulses the already skidding rear tire

Now it says oops as it realizes from the wheel sensors it's made things worse

At this point the dynamics model consults the on board antiligation tables and says this isn't gonna be pretty but I'm not gonna be responsible for it and.takes a nap

It does still brake steer to try to keep you pointing to where you point the bars

So how do you get yourself out of this sticky situation
Accelerate back up and slow down your braking under power

You really need a handlebar shaker that's connected to the VSS light

Hey you product guys mount a cell phone buzzer to a bar end and I'll be your first customer

Dude, you're riding in this weather? Hope you weren't out this morning! An inch or two of ice ain't fun in any vehicle!

My bike is in the garage and waiting for warmer weather...much nicer to be using a cage...cold winter this year!

Yep, gotta ride in a higher gear to keep the engine breaking to a minimum. I wind up shifting into second as early as I can, like 10 mph or so so if I let off it doesn't skip and invoke nanny.
I ride about 8 miles to work and the last 1/4 mile is up a steep hill that doesn't get plowed, or sanded, or salted, or any kind of care in Winter. Last year I could get up that hill a few times. Wound up parked down at the bottom and walked the last bit to work.

You are truly a wild man Alton. :D You should be the most Nanny familiar Spyder Ryder in history before too long. Keep ryding, but be safe my friend.
