• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

When I was in Gatlinburg I noticed that my drive belt had moved over about a 1/4".. I forgot all about it and rode home. No trouble. I didn't noticed it again until I was in Daytona for Biketoberfest. So I trained the belt. It wouldn't re-aline, no matter what I did. Turned the belt around. Still no good. Rode the bike to long. The belt re-grooved. So now I have to buy another drive belt. The only place to buy it is BRP. To new of a model. No After market belts yet.:cus: :gaah:
What did we learn in this post. Don't forget to check your drive belt often.:lecturef_smilie:

Thanks for the insight! I'm sorry to hear that you had to learn this one the epxensive way... :cus:

Now please excuse me while I go re-read the alignment procedures again...

Did your belt go a 1/4 inch beyond the outside edge of the sprocket, or was it a 1/4 inch off the flange?

Belt Alignment...

Your quote..."So I trained the belt".... Not sure what that means.. I trained the belt... Could you explain?? Len

Belt alignment

I installed one of capt Jim's belt tension assemblies. It took me about 30 minutes to install and 3 hours of fine adjustments to get the belt to run true. At first I thought it was the tensioner but then I moved it out of the way and found that my belt was tracking outside the rear sprocket. After much trial and error I got the belt to run true and then went back to the tension alignment. Once the belt was running true the tensioner adjustment was easy. Still working on how much tension to apply to the belt but the big vibrations are gone. I am sure that the tensioner is doing it job but maybe the realignment was all I needed. :2thumbs:.

I worked for years in a steel mill, In the maintance department. There we would repair, replace conveyor belts. To aline a belt 2,3 hundred ft. long it was refer d as training the belt. It would take all day sometimes. Motorcycle drive belts are just a very small conveyor belt. I guess it just another way of saying the same thing.
