• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I don't think the lines are blurred much. "Motorcycles" are defined by law. They do not have four wheels anywhere in the US that I know of. A four-wheeled vehicle that you sit on top of and steer with handlebars is known as a quad or an ATV around here. They are not street legal in my state. The leaning four wheeler looks like a blast, though. If the laws ever changed, I'd love to try one out on the road.

The Tesseract has been around for a while as sort of an excuse to keep the design teams drinking lots of double-expressoes... :roflblack: It's cute, but it ain't a bike by any definition that I've ever seen...(Although I'd love the chance to give it a run on one of Massachusetts' ATV trails near Pittsfield... )
I'm still having difficulties convincing some folks that my RT is actually a Motorcycle! Apparently they just don't want to accept a legal definition that defies their opinion!

That's because the Spyder is not a Motorcycle.
Just ask BRP They'll say the same. Why do some Spyder owners feel
that they have to convince people that the Spyder is a Motorcycle??
It is what it is = A Roadster, maybe you can even call it a trike, but a
Motorcycle it's not.

For the same reason someone comes on here and calls their 4 wheeler a spyder.
We all know what the 'Y' factor is as it relates to a spyder. So, how do you get a 4 wheeled spyder? No one ever questions him.

People can call what they drive/ride whatever they want; whatever makes them feel good. Who cares?

According to Webster,
Motorcycle: a 2-wheeled automotive vehicle for one or two people.
Tricycle: a 3-wheeled vehicle propelled by pedals or a motor.
So I guess we can call it a Cycle, a Trike, a Reverse Trike, or just a plain old Spyder. :spyder2::2thumbs::clap:

Who Cares what you call it..

I am going to leave what you call it to folks with mo interest than I can muster. I will simply ride it, enjoy it immensely, and generally have a good time.. People can call that whatever they want

I should have clarified this point... Some folks don't want to accept that it's licensed as a motorcycle...
I'll throw in with Doc on this one; I don't care what it's called as long as I get to ride! :2thumbs: :ohyea:

:thumbup:When i first got my Spyder about two and a half years ago, I
stopped at the blinker in Barryville, A couple of locals[you know how sullivan co. locals are] approached me and said,
''HEY'' you can't ride that ATV on the road. More than likely it was the first Spyder they've seen.
All i said to them is, I'm from ''JERSEY'' i can ride anything on the road.
They swallowed their Redman, shook their heads in disgust and walked away.

I agree with most of the comments here but why do bikers more easily consider say a Harley trike a motorcycle and not our Spyder? I say its more a trike than a roadster and more a motorcycle than a car!

:agree: I call my Spyder a bike because it's easy, not because I consider it a motorcycle, (which it is not). I've had people try to argue with me about it. And although I usually don't pass up an opportunity to argue, I'm like you. I just can't get up enough emotion about the subject to make it worth the effort.

:doorag:
The H/D 3 wheeler has Soul ,mostly exposed 45 degree V air cooled engine. Sit on one[engine running] before somebody puts pipes on.
Unlike the Spyder it doesn't need pipes to make the rider feel like they
have an engine under them.

To avoid confusion, I call it a roadster, a trike, a reverse trike, a tadpole trike, my ryde, or most often, my Spyder. I do not call it a motorcycle, a bike, an ATV or a scooter. Government might licence it as a motorcycle, but, being Government, they lag technology. As to what others may call it, that is their business, they can do as they like. I'm not interested in arguing about it. The main thing is to enjoy the ryde!

You've picqued my interest now Bob... The next time you're gonna pass up through the Hawk's Nest you'll have to give me some advance notice so that maybe we can arrange an attack of Spyders up along Route 97!
...and I've been a Sullivan County local my whole life... :roflblack:
