• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

for what reason one of you should visit europe ?

I will be arriving in Zurich on June 8th 2011 - a bit late and the wrong country but close :dontknow:

At least two of the spyderlovers members are going to ryde on their Spyders at the Rotax homecoming event in Italy 2011 :2thumbs:

Sounds like a great time...not sure if I could convince my husband who hates to fly. But since we just ordered me the new Ducati Diavel bike today maybe I could convince him we need to go to Italy to see it since it won't ship until next Spring sometime.

(Don't you attend the Ducati event, too, Doc?)

Jane I think you are wilder than me, I just saw some info on this bike over on the Valkyrie site. WOW:lecturef_smilie:

Nah...I'm just the little old lady who rides on Sunday afternoons. I'll just get my errands done a little faster than on some of my other rides. Still gonna give the Spyder road time, too. Took it out today - it's been sitting for a couple of weeks while I exercised some of the other bikes and once again remember how much fun it is. Last time I rode was fresh from new DPS change and was not sure I was gonna love the more "responsive" steering. Followed my husband today (who was feeling feisty on his Hypermotard) through some 20-35 mile an hour corners and chanced a look down at one point through one and saw a 68 on the GPS screen so I guess my concern over it being too touchy were unfounded. Good riding day.

I'll be passing through Austria on November 21 I don't suppose you'll be riding your Spyder then?

mine one still lying around in parts (after my rear-crash) .. and the austrian weather end of november could be snowy..

Do they RENT Spyders near the rally in Italy? Not sure they will have the Bridge built by then from Newfoundland to Spain......
If I fly over, I sure would like to ryde once I got there.

should`nt be a problem to get one for hiring (depends what route you would do in europe..) - can send some more links if someone is intrested ..
(some of the european dealers make also hiring)

Thanks Chris - a bit pricey, but better than shipping it over for a week or two. 've been wanting to tour around Europe for a while (Ireland was actually the place I had in mond) so I'll see what I can do to check it off my "bucket list"

one of the spyderlovers plans (his first) europe-trip.. my tips
also if Europe is much smaller than America – there is too much to see for 2 weeks
too much different areas-languages-mentalities ..
starting in MUNIC the distances to the “have to be seen” places is small - VENICE (340mls/550km) – SALBURG (90mls/150km) – VIENNA (280mls/450km) …that’s the italien/german-speaking part of Europe
for biker-fans ..in this area you would find BMW / GUZZI / ROTAX / KTM / DUCATI / AUDI / FERRARI / MASERATI ..(all with their own museums ..)
and there are some of the most famous streets of the world –
BRENNERAUTOBAHN (longest bridge)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Europabr%C3%BCcke
Großglockner – highest alpine road
http://www.grossglockner.at/en/
and some 100ets of Alpine Passes
http://www.alpentourer.com/alpine_passes/
around the largest lake "Garda" is (4shure)the most spectacular biker street
56 bridges – 74 Tunnels on 18 mls (world-record) – the tunnels are not lighted and most one-lane – 100ets of bikers each weekend there – but very dangerous
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lake_Garda
seems (?) that BRP plans their spyder-event in this area – so I hope all the ryders are fit - lot of crashes each weekend
so if you/wife speaks French/spain/swedisch you maybe would decide to take another part of Europe – the EURO is expensive against the DOLLAR – the fuel cost the double – the traffic is much faster – we always have a hotel-list and decide during the tour where we want to stay/eat (cheap) – there are 1000ends of churches/castles/palaces so your wife needs no museum – the area is a museum ..
last thing – better to rent the GS/RS model – the standard-RT needs some changes to be used here (had a bloody knee after my first RTweekend - no joke)
hope that is a help..

Heck, If its too far to travel, we have SPYDERFEST. I'm sure we can rangle up a little moonshine, a few hotrods that are around route 66, nice ryding in the country AND COWTOWN....a great dealership.....

Chris, I loved the video. We will be in Europe next week and I think we will try to take this route. It won't be as much fun in a little Fiat as it would be on a Spyder but it looks too beautiful to pass up.
