• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

What causes the need for a canisterectomy?

So Just clamp a longer hose TO the 3" one ?:dontknow:
If you are leaving the cannister, Yes, matter of fact I just used double barb fitting and pushed them together, then zip tied the hose in a couple of places to keep it in place.

Has anybody gutted the canister and converted it to additional fuel storage ??

Just wondering if it's possible, and how much additional fuel you could carry.

Or alternately, changing the canister out to a larger vessel for more fuel storage ?

Using an ungrounded plastic canister as a makeship fuel container on a vehicle, in a location that is near ignition wiring, exhaust, and other hazards, is a huge risk. Not in the least bit adviseable...even if it was legal.

It already is. The canister is always filled with fuel vapors. Many cars these days have polypropoline gas tanks. I know for a fact the jeep liberty does.

Still. I'm wondering if it's possible to add some additional storage someplace.

The poly fuel tanks have a grounding strip, bolt, or sending unit, as I recall. The canister has no such thing. The tanks are built to withstand the vibration of mounting and the extra weight of the fuel, the canisters are not. In use, the canister should not be full of fumes. The carbon is supposed to absorb the fumes when the purge valve is closed, then they are supposed to be sucked into the engine when it is running under the right conditions. I just think this would be a very risky move.

I would love a longer range, but I have always been leery of auxiliary fuel supplies on motorcycles. Count me out! I'll take the inconvenience of frequent fuel stops. Fortunately, I do not live out West. :D
