• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

light cluster on RTS?

clueless

curious why they went with 2 lights hi low for Europe and only single bulb with a blinder device for US? seems a complex proprietary soln. would rather have 2 bulbs per side.

also there seems to be a blank spot below the fog lights on the RT-S. it looks like a bulb should go there but it has just a chrome blank in the center. any idea why?

The Euro lights are done that way to meet their regulations. I was thinking ours would be nice that way, but I think we are bucking up against some regulations, too. I'm not sure. The height of headlights is usually prescribed by regulation, and high and low beams may have to be together in this country (or some states). Besides, if we had Euro lights, foglights would not be an option, and a lot of us like them.

As to the blank in the foglights, I thought about that, too, but in reality the LEDs cannot really be seen with the lights on, so even the headlight accents are but a mere design frill. The designers do what they do. You can go nuts asking "Why?"

Having worked on a multitude of vehicles, I've often thought that the engineers must sit in a room with no windows and one 75w bulb on the ceiling using a string to turn it on as their design center. Here, they giggle incessantly as they work.

they could have easily gone dual light and a smaller fog light like some of the PIAA lights are nice and bright from a small fixture.

or double stacked the high low beams in the same cluster like a Yamaha R bike

i fear the shutter thing wont last 5 years of use. hope its covered under the extended warranty...

Michigan's vehicle code prohibits more than four headlamps (including foglamps) to be lighted at any one time, so the circuitry would have to compensate for that when the foglamps were lit. Other states may be similar. I wouldn't worry about the shutters. Many of us have three years on our Spyders, and I have not heard of a single failure.

that's not an issue. like cars just wire the fog lamps to only low beams...

good to know. so the same light mechanism is on the RS?

Fog lights...

Are the fog lights on the RT adjustable, and if so how? The instalation instructions mention nothing regarding allignment.

I run the fog lights on my RTS all the time. On my wifes Impala SS the fog lights go off when high beam is selected, then come back on on low beam. Gee, I never checked that on the :spyder2:.

PIAA Lights

I am planning to replace the OEM bulbs in my 2009 SE5 headlights by PIAA Extra White lights.

Anybody knows the OEM number and its specifications...? :dontknow:

Otherwise I will have to remove cluster and / or tupperware to reach them and obtain those details. :gaah:

Thanks in advance, Pilo
