• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Jailbreaking is now legal

The freedom of iphone act, just what we needed, take that Apple.
My iphone 4 is a piece of junk, its goin back this week. Does everything but work as a phone. Just gonna stick with the 3gs for now.

I must say I am disappointed with my iphone4 too. I have the proximity sensor issue on mine. They replaced one already and now they say a software fix is on the way. I still have my 3gs and it is a great phone. I'm waiting to see what the software does before I return mine.

If you played with them both side by side they just aren't the same. My father inlaw lives here and he has a droid and I've been playing with it from day one. It would be great if I never used a iphone before. It's seems so clunky compared to the iphone. I was ready to give it a try when they first came out but after using one I think I'll stick with my iphone. By the way the battery on his Driod suxs compared to the iphone. nojoke

Hey Lamonster,
What program did you use to jailbreak your phone?I am still considering if I want to do that or not.

I've heard the term jailbreaking before, could someone explain it to where this old country boy can understand.

Mine had the prox sensor issue too, they said 4.1 was going to fix it, but it didn't. They said the case was gonna fix the signal issue, but it didn't.
They said there would be no restock fee if I returned it within 30 days, they were RIGHT. I went back to the 3gs.
The i4 is a really cool device, better than the 3 for sure. I just need a phone that doesn't drop calls, the 4 did not deliver.

I'm not sure if there is more to it than this but Apple has not enabled some capabilities of their iPhones for various reasons. Jailbreaking is a software work around that removes Apple's protections, enabling all the capabilities of the phone. After jailbreaking, you can go to a seperate website to download apps for jailbroke phones that aren't available for normal iPhones.

Thanks, I guess that don't apply to the Droid.

It might. Being I specifically use the iPhone, I know more about it but the article I read was written about smartphones in general so there may be something to it for Droids also. :dontknow:

As I understand it, the Droids use open source software so anyone can use it and modify it, They don't have the restrictions that Apple does. So this new development doesn't really apply to the Android market.

I think you might be thinking of Android as opposed to Droid.

Android OS is open source, but droid phones come packaged with closed-source.

Sorry, I was under the impression that the Droid phone(motorola) runs under the Android operating system which I thought was a Google Product and was considered open source. But that is certainly not an area of expertise for me.

And I thought Droid was just short for Android, shows how much I know. Guess I'm using Android and with the amount of Apps in the market it must be open. I can not thumb through even one category without falling asleep.

That's what happens when you get old:shocked::shocked::roflblack::roflblack:

Could be but I wouldn't count the number of apps as being proof of being open source. The legal iPhone apps number in the thousands or tens of thousands.....

I think the main thing for jailbreaking an iPhone is unlocking hardware functionality, not getting a bunch more apps.
