• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

what do you carry for concealed to carry?

Hubby is a member of the NRA, we go to the range when it's not stifling hot out. The better range is outdoors, so it is too hot out to go right now. We do have a small indoor range which is okay to use when you're bored and can't find anything to do, so we go to the range.

Walther PPKS I hope I never have to use it, but this thread got me to thinking. I have 3 daughters and I tell them all the time be aware of strangers approaching you in parking lots day or night. Thinking about it. How many strangers have approached you, when you have been out on your spyder. Do you know the intent of each and every person? I've had some very "interesting" people questioned me about mine. So far most are just curious and friendly. But as spyder owners we are used to the attention we get. I can honestly say I've talked with strangers when out on the spyder that I probably wouldn't have had I been driving my truck. So I unintentionally have let my guard down. The very thing I've told my daughters not to do.

Sig 238 in 380. Not a lot of punch, but fits perfectly in the pocket of the trunk cover and is easy to drop in a pocket without fear of "printing"

My tow behind instead of a BRP trailer. Must edit to see picture.

Good advice for daughters, but the Spyder is such an attention getter - you just can't keep 'strangers' from approaching you. All of us out here were 'strangers' at one time....;).

Certainly being aware of your surroundings and using common sense should always be practiced, but things are really pretty safe out there.... crime has continued to drop in the US since the 1950's--- every decade has had less crime than the previous. In general, people are pretty honest and trustworthy.

well, since I can't carry at work, and I was working in a bad neighborhood, I bought myself a tazer. It has a flashlight, laser sight, cartridge as well as the prongs. I even have a case that clips onto the belt. It looks like a cell phone holder. No one knows I wear it and since I don't need a conceal permit, although I have one, it's not considered a weapon. That keeps my hubby with peace of mind.

Wow--- lucky you--- those aren't legal in Michigan. Is it just a stun-gun, or an actual Taser that can shoot from like 30 feet away?

I always thought those would be a great thing to have...

Here's a great video of one in action.... cracks me up.

Schweet! I want a taser gun now!!!! Practice on my younger brother with it.

Any cop that is going to carry one has to first get hit with one so as to know what it feels like. They also have a unique feature for tracking usage. Each charge contains 100 small round 'dots' that have the serial number on them--- when the unit is fired the dots get scattered all over the ground. This allows for tracking of the 'ammo' so to speak.

BE VERY CAREFUL thinking you do not need a concealed permit. Some states DO recognize a taser as being on equal legal footing as that of a firearm (ie Indiana places them in the same category as a firearm and a permit IS required).

I highly recommend EVERYONE research their state laws on this matter so you are in legal compliance versus trouble due to ignorance of the law. I do not want to see any member reading this and think it applies to ALL states.

Remember having a concealed permit issued by your state IS NOT always universally accepted in all 50 states. Be smart and do a lil research!

Good points. I've been told that even carrying a baseball bat up near the driver can get you in trouble as that can be considered a concealed weapon.

Funny we should be talking about the NRA---- got a call from them today doing a 'survey'. They played a crazy message about the 'United Nations wanting to take our guns' and then wanted my response. I guarantee my response isn't what they expected--- told them I thought they were spreading unnecessary fear with such drivel. (our 2nd Amendment rights aren't going anywhere and have actually been strengthened during the past year). We can now carry in National Parks and the Chicago ban was found to be unconstitutional for example.

Haha .... I carry a night stick in my truck, a retractable steel police baton in the car and an axe handle in the suv. That's on top of whatever I might be carrying for the day.

It's an actual taser. Trust, it would not be used lightly. Each cartridge is $40 to replace. And yes it has the tracking dots too. I just wish the local police would offer the taser class they used to have. Basically they would supply the cartridges and you just brought your taser, or borrowed one from Taser International, a sponsor, and they would teach you self defense and how to use the taser correctly. Because of budget costs, they don't allow it. When I ride my spyder alone, to work or whatever, I carry both my gun and taser. I am under 100lbs and 5". Since the spyder does draw attention to itself, I trust my instincts.

No one has ever....

No one has ever run into a situation where deadly force was required until... the day they .... Run into a situation where deadly force is required!!.. God forbid. I've never had a flat tire on a motorcycle ever. But in the unlikely possibility it may occur I do carry the necessary equipment to deal with a flat tire... IMHO... to each his own. I was a Boy Scout.. Be Prepared....

I'm a retired airline pilot, I spent my entire professional life training and preparing for something that most likely would never happen.. But just in case.. for the sake of thousands of my passengers over the years. I was trained and prepared. .... Len

Here's some good info if you're going state to state:

http://www.nraila.org/recmap/usrecmap.aspx

Like I said-- it's my PERSONAL choice not to carry on trips. To each his own.

I've never run into a situation that would require the use of deadly force... and doubt I ever will. Of all the people I personally know who carry--- never heard a single one that had to use it... ever.

Just a good idea to be well informed when ryding from state to state. Gun restrictions have been lowered quite a bit lately--- especially during the past year.

:agree:
I know exactly what you mean. This is why training to use and employ your personal firearm in the event your are in a "life threatening situation" is not only smart, but such training could actually save your life. Aircrews (people who fly planes for a living) train for in-flight emergencies in a full motion simulator because the federal law requires the training.

It is up to each person to not only seek firearm training but to continue their training in all aspects in the use

of their personal firearm.
