• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I bought a can bus protocol analyzer and plugged it into the diagnostics port of my spider last weekend. Btw the connectors on the spider are sinco at type

http://http://www.sineco.com/AT-Series_ep_177.html

The bus operates at 500 Kbps and sends standard low level messages.

I think I have found a few messages from the logs

Wheel speeds are only sent when they differ and I think I have found the messages from the steering

I want to find the yaw rate sensor next

I haven't tried to talk to the ECU yet I'm just listening to normal traffic now

I have a net book in the frunk and a 7 inch USB touchscreen monitor on the bars

Next is a gps and a compass and accelerometer

Not that I would ever do this nor do I have the time, but it seems you are going down a path which actually has already been done. Great work. I was able to get a connection to work and skim the data off the port but I can't say it was really usable for what I wanted to do/achieve.
I do know, since BUDS has been out for some time, there are some crazy people out there that have gotten past the serial number and activation prompts and are able to use BUDS at home. There are various different road blocks but one major one is having the right dealer code for the products we would care about which is the Spyder. There seems be to be plenty of codes available for Jet Skis and 4Wheelers but nothing that I can find for the Spyder. I do know, the buds software is available on the internet and it has been used by home users. Just a warning, this is highly illegal as it is considered software piracy among other things. The versions I have seen are all in Russian if that tells you anything.
Great job though, please let us know the details you find as you progress. I would love to just pull the performance numbers off the bike ever so often.

Are you using the service connector? With/without a terminator?

I am Not using BUDS software at all
I am just reading the data sent between the sensors and ecu tcm braking controller etc.

My goal is not so much to do diagnostics as to monitor performance and chassis dynamics

Writing my own software to log it and gps data
