• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Recall?

2010 RTS-SE, Orbital Blue
As Spyder lovers, we are aware of some shortcomings of some of our machines. In some cases, owners are very PO'd, with good reason. However, these machines have only been on the market three years. The reason I mention this, is because of a news report of a problem with the front brake on BMW motorcycles, spanning about 6 years and 122,000 units. If this is true, maybe BRP isn't as far behind on detection and solution to problems, as some think. I post this, not to knock BMW or any other manufacturer, just to point out that some problems are not addressed in as timely fashion as we expect. I'm sure some BMW owners will reply and validate or rebut this recall?

That is a very good, and valid, point.

The fact is all machines are built by man, and we do make mistakes from time to time. To expect any machine to be flawless at all times, in all situations, is a bit of a stretch. I also understand that people are not happy when they do not have their machine during a recall, but the good news is those who have gotten theirs fixed have been making very good reports about how much better their Spyders are running now.

This post was not started to encourage people to accept the shortcomings of manufacturers! I was trying to get across, that a company with a good reputation and a history of great motorcycles still has "s--t happen" !:chill:

BRP has neither yet, (and don't seem poised to get there, either) and comparing their never ending litany of troubles to BMW isn't exactly apples to apples............
Did you ever read about the very long standing and ongoing problems with the final drive of BMW motorcycles? The failure rate in the Iron Butt rally in 2009 was something like 40% for the BMW's entered, and it's a failure that leaves you stranded. There are far fewer BMW dealers than BRP dealers ... and they are not all good. Or how about frames breaking on Gold Wings? They all have problems, and they're not all as responsive to them as the owners feel they need to be.

If I really wanted a good dealer network and a reliable bike I would probably buy an HD. If the nearest dealer isn't any good, the next one is usually within 25 miles.
