• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Just quickie heads up for those who need or want to change out the brake lights
The entire sport rack unit must be removed to remove 2 of the Torx screws holding tailights in :gaah:

Tools needed:
3/8 Ratchet + extensions
14mm wrench for vertical bolt nut
2-13mm wrenches for horizontal bolt thru rack bracket
6mm Allen for bolts holding rack to frame mount(4)
10mm wrench for cable release nuts
T-27 for under seat panel/tail light removal
T-30 for vertical bolt thru rack bracket
Flat screwdriver(or similar) - to remove rivets
Owners manual

Ive include some pix - hope this helps - took about 45 minutes to change out bulbs ARRRRGHHH

If you would like bigger pix just PM me and Ill send them to you in a ZIP file or upload them for you

Also somebody was looking for dimensions on the aluminum bracket that slips into frame - Just PM and Ill send the pics/dims too
Not sure who or when that was though

UPDATE and FYI
LED brake/Tail lights I installed caused every fault code to pop up!:yikes:
So changed bulbs back to stock and no more fault codes:2thumbs:

I had to do this and Firefly was very helpful...got me through it...in addition to the sport rack, I had to partially take apart the brackets for the Givi bags...argh...what a mess...hope I never have to do this again...what a pain in the 'tail light' it was! :D

Thanks for the info, got half way through the process once already and had to bail, now I will try it again with your pics and instructions.

If you have small hands, you can get the at tail light assembly and replace the bulb without removing the sport rack parts, but it is not easy and requires several magic words (%&*#@) to get done. I know, I know, add Magic Man LEDs and don't worry.

Thanks for taking the time to post this with pictures and tool list. Very helpful info. I have big hands so this route looks like my only option.

Good of you to post pics so others know what they're in for---- it's a real pain to get to these if you have the sport rack-- and especially the BRP/Givi saddle bags.

I would recommend replacing them with a known LED unit that will work. You can do the ESI setup where you send them off and get them installed--- probably the most pain-less way to do it. I had some leftover ESI red pucks - so I installed mine myself-- but it was quite a job.

I am using LED bulbs that I bought from PepBoys on my Spyder without any problems. A member from this site had it on his Spyder and written a thread on it. I was pretty comfortable after reading that thread and replaced my bulbs with recommended LEDs. Been working fine without any issues.

PS. The LED bulb has some kind of electronics built-in to properly work with newer vehicle's electrical system ... I think they call it the CAN bus.

:agree: Nanny hasn't noticed the LED bulbs.
