Just for clarification purposes only... BRP's BEST warranty offered by BRP is offered to you in one year, two year, or three year packages. These add to your regular two year warranty on the RT's and three years (Current Specials) on certain RS's... It basically turns your two year factory warranty into a 3 or 4 or 5 year factory warranty, plus a very good roadside assistance package. That in it's self could be worth it!

They also offer a BEST PLUS, that adds some particular maintenance needs the Spyders need through their mileage.

Some dealers do offer non BRP warranties and in house service specials. But if that dealer closes or looses the BRP line (Like a few have) the buyer is normal Poop out of luck on collecting the service they paid for.

Additionally. I understand that we as buyers have 60 days to decide, not 30. Not sure if that 30 day time frame they gave you is the limit for dealers or just a soft nudge from them to help you make the decision to buy...

I could be wrong, this is just my understanding :spyder2:

Just to clarify a little more....
You have 60 days to purchase the warranty with no surcharge. Should you wait till after the 60 days BRP charges $75 per year of coverage that you purchase.
You can purchase a BEST warranty up until the day before your manufacturer warranty expires however, you will be paying the surcharge.
Let me know if you have any questions!

My dealer and BRP district sales manager Stephane Bertrand both told me personally that the BRP BEST warranty is no longer available in Florida. I tried to buy it and it can't be done. It was being sold in FL, however, as I recall, after March 20th 2010, no can do.. So, my dealer, SunSports Cycle in Ft. Myers FL, is selling (Interstate National Dealer Services Of Florida, Inc.) Looks good on paper. Since our RT's are rather new I haven't had to use them YET!!! Len

On this note:
I have sold a BEST warranty from here in California to a customer in Florida. The BEST warranty is still valid in Florida, and any BRP dealer still honors the warranty work however, they are unable to sell it.
Please let me know if you are still interested and I would love to help you out. Thank you!:D

extended warranty

What about a used Spyder from a private party?

2 local dealers and neither repiled.

Speed-Sports in Livermore, CA said they would get me a price and get back to me NOT. Claimed one they honor is a better deal for the customer. No reply yet.

Hayward, Ca. dealer just ignores me. If I am not going to buy one of their new Spyders, I can just go away.

At least that what it seems like.

Contact Berts...if you buy a Spyder and it's within the first two years (still under warranty), you still qualify to get the BEST warranty...yeah, it costs more, but IMHO, it's well worth it to have that roadside assistance and an additional 3 years of coverage...

I would agree with bonecrusher. Definitely contact Bryce at Bert's for the BRP warranty if your Spyder's still got some warranty left. If your ride's original warranty has expired, you're probably outta luck. I've yet to see a good aftermarket warranty for any brand motorcycle. http://www.spyderlovers.com/forums/showpost.php?p=222311&postcount=23

Thanks , but I don't own a Spyder. I am looking at used ones and most the warranties have expired, too much $$$ or too far away. (I am in CA. Bay area).

Can't justify the cost of a new one and the 09 closeouts are not local.

Understandable.... But (And I could be wrong here) I think your missing what they are telling you.

  1. If the used Spyder has a warranty, either the factory or the BEST or even the BEST PLUS. It is transferable to the 2nd owner. (You being the second owner)
  2. The factory warranty is two years long. It starts at the delivery date. So you could have a 2008 Spyder, that sold on 8-1-2008 and today it not only still has the factory warranty, it qualifies for the BEST or BEST PLUS warranty for about $75 more per year than if it was still in the first 60 days of ownership.
  3. Spyders can be shipped to your door step :2thumbs:
I hope that helps

This has been a question I've had for a while now. I bought an 08 from a private party (P/E #498). I called the dealer from where it was originally purchased and he stated the factory warranty was up in November 09. Based on your statement above, that would mean the original owner purchased the bike in November of 07. Huh??????? What the heck am I missing here???

With that information, I eventually bought a 3 year aftermarket warranty/service agreement which I have yet to have to use (thankfully...)

I only know what I have read on the BRP site :dontknow:. I do see they even have a special right now that makes the RS into a three year warranty... I cannot speak for your situation. But I could be very wrong... Maybe I should delete my post...:opps:

I understand understand what they are telling me. I am just going by the info the sellers are telling me.

Only one dealer said they would help with shipping. Just like ebay, buyer responsible for shipping/pick up.

I know of one a 2008, with some toys only 4k miles out of warranty but can't get replies as to when I can see it. I am not go to drive 3+ hours and have the seller bail like he has on e-mails.

I will keep looking thou, maybe something will pop up.

The extended warranty from BRP is a summer promotion. Buy any NEW (from dealer) 2008-2010 Spyder and you get the extra year warranty.

This deal supposedly ends 7/31/2010.

The first 2008 Spyder was delivered to Jay Leno in October 2007, as I recall. Several (about 100?) more were delivered before the end of the year. It is certainly possible to find one where the warranty ran out in November 2009. Several thousand more PEs were delivered in the Spring of 2008, and those warranties have expired, too, unless the extended warranty was purchased while the original warranty was still active.

The way I read the July "VIP" offer:

2008 models = $2000 in accessories and 2 yrs of BEST.
2009 models = $1500 accessories and 2 yrs of BEST.
2010 models = $500 accessories and 1 yr of BEST.

The offer, accoriding to the email I got, shows the promotion is from June 30 ~ July 31. Wouldn't you know, we signed the papers on our 2010 RS on June 23rd! Missed it by a week... :(

+1

I recently took out an extended warranty. They way I see it, even if I don't keep my spyder, the warranty will be a selling tool. If I were in the market for a spyder and were offered the choice of one with a warranty or one without, I'd take the one with the warranty. :D
That's the rationale we used as well. That, and and I'm not getting any younger!

BEST Warranty

Decided that since the RT seems to be having lots of issues in general (even tho mine is acting fine) that 3 yr. extended warranty a cheap "insurance" since working on Spyders is COSTLY.
Much calling and research: Save your time...buy from Bert's: Bryce is prompt, efficient and gets the job done. AND had the very best pricing. Found that my servicing dealer got close but close being $100...$10 maybe, but said thank you, but no thank you. Gave them an opportunity to meet or beat Bryce/Bert's...didn't happen, so doing paperwork with Bryce now.

Best Warranty

Dealer threw in the Best warranty as part of the deal when I bought my 09 SM-5 ...may have been because they had a new load of ther 2010's sitting in thier parking area...I wasn't complaining of course and I got a terrific deal on the 09.
