There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. I have a spider RT-S and a RS and just bought a new one for my wife we love our spiders but we just got the 2 new rt-s's and they have serious recalls with the clutch we can't even drive them it's very upsetting, that these touring bikes would have so many issues.

plus 4 other issue like fuel gage's and brakes squeaking loudly etc. but the big issue is the clutch and there back ordered on the parts so here I spent 50 plus grand on these's awesome bikes and I can't even ride them any idea's I have called brp but no help as I can't get a number that they acutely answer I love my spider but it's no use to me if I can't ride it.

Trust me

Trust me. I.... feel.... your.... pain.......:chill: :gaah:
I'll be kind and not share more on this subject.

That being said, I believe you will be able to get a hold of Carlo on this website. It's just I am not sure how. I'm sure if you email Lamonster here in the forum, he can get you in touch with Carlo.

Carlo is out of the office and on a well deserved vacation until July 6.

I tried to call him about my issues. His message states to call BRP consumer service in the meantime. I tried to call them Thursday, but they were closed for St. Jean Baptiste day.
:banghead:

Was told I was getting my Spyder back Friday so I didn't call. Told Saturday that it was not mine that was fixed but my neighbors. they'll look at mine Monday or Tuesday as they need to troubleshoot some more before BRP is called.

Broke down/woudn't start at work June 2nd, picked up June 5
Told it was ready to be picked up June 15, drove 85 miles to get it and it breaks down 60 miles back home because I stopped to put on rain gear.
They pick it up June 16. They'll look at it again on the 28th or 29th of June.:banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead:

Need to call my insurance agent and report a change of address where it is garaged, as its only been garaged at my house only 2 months this yearnojoke

oh- sorry about the rant- i was just gonna give Carlo info and got carried away.

WOW it sucks not being able to ride whos carlo?can he help witht the issue or am i just out the money i spent on the spyders you think?
in anycase my dealer is crap aswell as they sale it and say have a nice day ,p$#@ on me and dont have the courtsy to at least call it rain....lol with that said if i spend 26grand each on the top model they should at least tell me when it will be fixed but BRP told them and I quote "when we Have the parts to fix it will let you know so the phone call want help"

When the dealer gets told to wait what does the custmer do ?i just wish there was a direct BRP GUY to tell this too.

just wish i had a speceilist like on my ford trucks when i have issue there johnny on the spot with the info.

its not like i spent 50 grand on the bikes ......OH Wait I DID !!!

LOL BRP love MY Spyders HATE the PHONE Support that comes with them.

I dont think you should be feeling like you are being held hostage with the recall on the RTS clutch. We are not being told to park the bikes and wait for the backordered parts and fix before riding the bikes again. Instead, we are told to bring them into the dealer for the fix. I believe from other threads, that the problems with the clutch were initiated by a hard fast stop from higher gears with no downshifting. I have put over 6000 miles on my RTS and have had not had problems with clutch or engine stalling. I usually do my own downshifting between 2500 and 3000 rpms instead of letting the tranny do its own thing at about 1500 rpms. I realize that situations can happen requiring emergency stops, but this hopefully is the exception rather than the norm. I will ride mine until the parts come in.

I hate to sound negative, especially because I love my Spyder, but for a brand new machine, I Have had three major issues already, none of which have been resolved. 1) the no-start problem, 2) the clutch and now 3) CHECK DPS alarm. And forget about calling BRP for help; I have tried several times and all they have is a recording basically telling you to go away and bug the dealer. I think that is exrtemely weak. You spend that kind of money and that is what you get?

I wonder if Canadian owners are getting the same treatment? It just makes you wonder. Anyway, in spite of all this I am still riding the thing because I love it and I have found work-arounds for the issues at hand. Mostly I just ignore the DPS alarm! It's headed for the Dealer this week, and I wonder if I will ever see it again...

your right we are not being held hostage but I have a family and riding at my own risk with a dangerous recall isnt safe not to mention any fact that when its a recall regardless of what it is it should be a priorty issue to fix not "ride at your own risk till the part comes in" i bought the bikes to have fun and ride not worry if the next stop will injury me or worse.

please keep in mind i say all of this with the cold hard fact I REALLY love my spyder just not as much as I love my family,So again for the money we all spend on them i just want it to work without the drama:)

Might be worth trying...

I have a lot of issues with our one RT-S. Very sorry to read yours on two of them :cus:

Just wanted to mention something I discovered yesterday....

As I feel the clutch begin to bind (Knowing it will stall) I "Blip" the throttle... This re-aligns the clutch to the position sensor and I am able to roll to the stop without any issues.

I have now done it at least 12 times with 100% success.

Yes, it does take just the right amount of "Blip" and being aware of it of course to make it work. Without over doing it and endangering you or someone else.

We took a 250 ryde today (Our longest ever) along 410 through a lot of towns with stop and goes. Not once did we stall as I used this new found knowledge :clap::pray:

Good luck, I hope that helps a little bit so you can at least get comfy (If you are also finding this to work) enough to ryde until they fix these bad boys... :dontknow:

You are correct. "Flipping the throttle" is the official term, and it works. Also, I have just started going to nuetral when I stop. SO for that portion of the problem, no prob. The other parts like excessive slippage at throttleup and occasional rough shifting is another matter. But you develop certain techniques to counter. Whatever will keep me on the bike, I'm all in! The DPS thing has me a bit worried, but I'm riding anyway. :ohyea:

alright, I'll keep it short.

There are some of us with such issues here. Thank goodness there are not a lot of us having problems though! I do feel some of your pain. It does sound like a couple people here have some suggestions to keep you on the road though. A lot of knowledgeable people on this forum.
Myself, I have not been on my Spyder since March 24th of this year. a great ride for the first sixteen thousand miles then it went kapoot! Backordered parts etc. If all the stars in the sky line up just right, I may have it out of the shop this week but I am not counting on anything. I'm tired of getting my hopes up only to have them bashed with another problem the dealership found. But at least they are keeping it until it is actually fixed unlike another big dealership in Alton, Il. I dealt with before. I will avoid them at all costs in the future!!! I'm glad I have Saint Louis Power Sports.

Cool, I sure hope you can get your ride back soon. It sounds like you have been through too much already. All the best to you dude. I'm just praying that mine doesn't turn into the same story.

As I said before. Thank God for extended warranties. $3100.00 in repairs so far and the other day they just ordered a couple more parts including a new belt.
