There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. How Far?

How far do you have when the red loe fuel warning light comes on? How many gal. of gas are left in the tank? Not that I have any intention of pressing the issue, we have gas stations on virtually ever corner.

:dontknow:
I have an 08 GS M5 i usually go about 30 miles more with a steady low light My last gas up i went 180.4 miles and it took 5.360 gal.
The amount of working gallons the tank holes is still a mystery to me and that's after two + years and almost 13 thousand miles.:yikes:

gas mileage

When I went on my trip I boo booed and miss the last station with about a half tank and not another station for about another 100 miles. Took it to the limit and erase all the bars on the gauge when I filled up at the station it filled up at a whopping 6.2 gallons. Whew I was really lucky.

The mileage on my '09 SE sucks. Around 21 but, when I towed the trailer on our recent cross-country trip it REALLY SUCKED...about 100 miles to the tank. Ran out of gas about 5 miles short trying to "stretch it" to the next service station and Trickie Dick had to go fetch some gas. As it turned out, the station I was trying to reach was closed up so I'd have run out no matter what.

Same Problem here

I'm getting about 100 miles before the light comes on and haven't pushed it too much further than that. I'm also working with a 30lb. Wheelchair on the back, so I really just mentally say I didn't buy it for gas mileage, I bought it to have fun and live to enjoy things I do.

I was cuttin up the twisties just the other day and wasn't paying attention to the cluster, I was just listening to the engine and riding man! I was having too much fun and lost track of my fuel status. I came out of the woods, looked down and saw one bar and fuel light blazing! :yikes:

I knew I was at least 30 miles away from a station but I had no choice so I tried to be smooth on the throttle and made it 34 miles to the station. Needless to say I won't pull a rookie stunt like that again but the reserve was more than I expected.

We left the dealer with 1 mile on the odometer and have gotten a consistent 31 mpg, over a 1000 miles now in a little over 2 weeks. When we fuel it seems it always takes 5.5 gal or close to it. I was asking myself the same ? I figured about another 50 miles at the least surely enough to get to a station....I hope:2thumbs:

Our light comes on at about 130 miles. We can easily get another 50 miles after the light comes on. My guess is there is about 1.2 - 1.5 gallons left once the light comes on. We typically get about 180 miles out of a tank.

I agree with SpyderGirl. I just took a 3000mi trip from Ohio to Hollister, CA. I kept records with every fillup using "GasHog" on my iPhone. Also I am pulling a BRP Trailer. My average fuel consumption for the trip was 27.1mpg. Cost/mile was $0.11

Lowest was 41 mpg and the highest was 23.1 mpg. These variations are most certainly due to unequal filling levels.

My low-fuel light comes on at about 120 mi and I have about 30-50 mi of fuel left. Closest I came to "oops" was 6.038:yikes: gal. when I got 23.1 mpg in the mountains. I was glad I carried 2 gal extra in my trailer.

I hear that the fuel economy is a little lower on the RT as compared to the RS. However my RS is typically a two-upper with some cargo. On our trip from CA to the east coast and back (while pulling a loaded trailer and loaded saddlebags two-up) we got an average of 29MPG for the whole trip. Never had to use the extra 2 1/2 gallons we were carring with us on the trailer.

I know from experience that, when all the bars are gone, there is maybe 3/4 of a gallon left. When I ran out of gas, 3/4 of a gallon put it back to 1 bar.

Two weeks ago, on our way back from the coast, we just passed the last gas station when the light went on . . . we thought we'd be able to make it but less than one mile from the next station, the RS ran out of gas :yikes:

158.5 miles and it was bone dry. When we filled it up, it held 5.762 gallons.

But, now we know how much it holds.... and we probably won't do that again

I know the GS holds more than 5.762 gallons... I've put in over 6 gal before (I ran it out of gas once accidently)... I don't remember how much it was, but it was over 6... and not the only time I've put over 6 in it.
