Corbin Saddlebags = Poor Workmanship

I purchased the Corbin saddlebags 2 weeks ago. This product is very poorly made, The fiberglass is cracking, paint chipping, and the locks do not lock the lids down.... If I would have known then what I know now I would have never ordered them. You would think they would have better quality for $2000.00 I emailed Corbin 4 days ago with no reply.

Wow, most people here are really fond of corbin...they make nice products. I'd give them a call to follow-up with your email. They are a legitimate company and should stand behind their product.

If you get a refund (in lieu of a replacement), check out the BRP hard bags...just had mine installed and they look amazing on the bike...match it perfectly and are very easy to take off/put on...brackets too...

I love my Corbin Hard Saddle Bags Trunk Box and Heated seat. Yes I agree they are hard to get ahold of sometimes and yes they are expensive . The delivery dates are usually way of. All my hardware is rusting ( hinges and mounting hardware ) But they do complete the the :spyder2:. Had a paint blister developed 6 months after I got them and shipped back and repaired on there dime. I'm sure they will fix to your satisfaction when you finally get a hold of someone.
Last I herd Corbin was for sale . I think NMN or ESI bought there truck and trailer as Corbin doesn't do shows on the road any more .:dontknow:

Ahhh... sorry but no!

We have our own 2009 Volvo 780 rig, and would never buy anything again from Corbin. I believe Rivco bought it?

We have Corbin bags on our SM5, and let's just say I would be embarrassed to have an ESI product delivered as poorly made as our bags were for almost $2000. The responce we got when we called to ask about them was lacking to say the least.

We also have a Corbin seat on our SE5 and it's just too.

TOO hard, TOO far forward, TOO sloped forward for the passenger seat, and TOO over priced.

My bags looked fine at delivery and still do. When I installed them, I found that the holes in the side of the left side bag were not drilled correctly and nothing I could do would get them to line up. I had to drill out a second hole about 3/4" back from theirs. I've also had problems with the lids latching. I was able to adjust the latch and hinge to make this work, but they continually seem to work out again. I really can't leave anything of value in them for fear someone will just wiggle the latch loose. I do like the looks though.

I also have their seats. I have the same issue that many do. I feel like I'm being pushed forward and after about 100 miles I feel like I'm sitting on a brick. Even with that, it's still better than the stock seat.

I would not recommend Corbin to anyone at this point.

While I think the Corbin bags look good, really prefer removable bags like the BRP GIVI 35's.

I was shocked to see many having rusted hardware on the Corbin bags--- can't believe they didn't go with stainless hardware. Sorry to hear other problems with their bags....not what is expected from Corbin for sure.

As far as their seats go---- I absolutely LOVE my Corbin seat on the Spyder. Took about 1,000 miles to break in-- but now it fits me like a glove. When I first got it I felt what some had also felt--- that you slid 'forward'.... but after the break-in it no longer does that. 11,000 miles on my Corbin seat now and it's just fantastic.

The new RT seat looks amazing too!

It's really sad to hear this. Apparently they have gotten too big from the days in Hollister when they were a little shop that would rebuilt your saddle.

The latches are easily adjustable. Use a little loctite on the screws to keep them tight. The hole misalignment is probably the mounting hardware, which is adjustable to a point.

Most likely, Corbin will send replacement saddlebags and then ask you to return yours in the same boxes. In my case, they paid the return freight.

I emailed pictures to Corbin 8 days ago with no reply. I looked the company up on the BBB and Corbin has an (F) rating. I am going to call Corbin in the morning to try and get this problem resolved.

I had to  the bags back to Corbin on my dime. I will never do business with this company ever again nor will any of my friends.

I had the same bad experiences as most here for the 09 Spyder. Took them 4 months and many lies about them being shipped nefore I got htem finally to have paint blisters on them. The hinges always needed adjusted for them to latch properly and the rubber stops for when they shut feel off and got lost.
I contacted them by e-mail and by phone and never heard another word from them. Just not the kind of company or a product that I will ever use again myself.

It is very sad when you buy something that costs this much, and you know the company can do better by you but won't. :gaah:

Corbin Saddle

I ordered a Corbin saddle, was to hard, the main issue I had with it was riding two up. Going down hill or butting on the brakes, my wife would sided forward push me froward. Paid 583.00. Sold it on eBay for 327.00 lost my butt. I did not know you could send them back. I replaced it with the :spyder2:comfort seat and it's a far better guilty. I was very unhappy with the Corbin saddle. I can see now why people buy form foreign countries.:spyder:

I was fortunate to buy a lightly used Corbin seat, which I love - it will take at least 1K miles to break in a Corbin seat. During that time, I HIGHLY recommend using a Bead Rider - even if you put it on and take it off.

If you break it in properly, the Corbin is a top choice. I have one on both of my bikes, and - for me - are the best of the aftermarket choices (yes, I've tried several brands).

I wouldn't consider spending $2K on a set of bags (just me) - & bought the regular Givi bag set. Can't easily remove the hardware, but I only remove the bags for cleaning anyway. My only beef with them is that (1) you always have to use the key to get into them, and (2) you have to buy the ESI light set to have a decent set of turn signals.

Regarding the rust - don't ride in the rain. I have a 2001 Valk, and it has NEVER been wet (I hand clean my bikes using Honda cleaner/wax.). There isn't a rust spot or pit anywhere on that bike.

I've left on the best of days with a good weather prediction and then rode home in the rain.

I guess now I'm real glad I went with Givi, the others seemed way too expensive.

I bought saddle bags and a seat from Corbin for my RS last spring (2009). The quality was top notch and the fit and finish was excellent. I had an issue with the slope of the saddle being to great causing me to slide around when breaking of cornering. I emailed Corbin via the "customer feed back" link on their website stating the problems with the saddle. I recieved a response from Mike Corbin within 20 minutes. Corbin then reworked another saddle and sent it to me, the reworked saddle was perfect. Sometimes the response you get is determined by the "tone" you take when registering a complaint or issue. Personally, I think the BRP bags are as ugly a sin, just my opinion. The Corbin bags follow the lines of the bike and hold way more gear then the Givi bags. I put 9000 miles on my RS and never had any issue with the bags or saddle, they all looked and worked like new when I traded it in this past April for my RT.

So, the BRP bags are ugly as sin? I disagree, but hey, we're all entitled to our opinions...if you want your bike to look like it's wearing a skirt, then the Corbins look great! :D:D :roflblack:
