There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. was wondering if a husband/wife combo was interested in going to Des moines IA and having the back passenger drive mine back to the cities/somewhere north, I live in bemidji MN.

If someone who trusts themselves to drive a vehicle that a 3 yr old can drive (se-5) I will pay for the gas and stuff.

SHOULD be done then end of this week?

hit me up on here or pm.

Its at hicken powersports north on 141 from 44 NW side of Des Moines.

I posted this in the MN section but no one can I guess so I am extending my area.

Bemidji is a little under 250 miles north of the center of the St. paul mn just in case anyone wanted to know.

front sprocket bolt broke off in the main, a problem that I did not know was an issue for several people on here, they can not get the rest of the bolt out so the have to crack the case and replace the main shaft.

Sucks not having my spyder, when I am not at work I have been sitting in my wheelchair on my porch throwing rocks at the neigbor kids, they really want me to get my spyder fixed too,

I wish I could help but have no second person to ride with and don't have my full m/c license so couldn't take the interstate. Sorry. I hope you find someone though.

I looked at the route we would have to take Seth, and we couldn't do it in less than 3 days and that would be a lot of riding each day. We don't have the time off right now. I really wish I could help. I am still thinking though, hoping to come up with some idea for you.

No worries len, you have done way more that I could ever expect from a business owner, just was hoping to have someone in the area that had the time, no worries on anyone not in the area.

I have to call the place tomorrow after talking to doc about getting the main spline from austria taking more time than the dealership said but they are not open on mondays so I will know more tomorrow.

I have the time to get it after wednesday thru sundayish but wanted to see if someone in the area could help or wanted to do an extended test drive to see if they wanted to buy a spyder, I don't care who drives my spyder, just the you break it you buy it in effect and if you get hit by something like a tornado we could work something out.

Thanks again for all the help offers from ppl on here.

Sorry I can't help out with the ride Setho.
Kudo's to pitbull buggy to even make a such a kind hearted gesture. Sounds like you have one heck of a dealer!

I do have a couple questions for you though. As soon as the bolt broke, did the spyder quit working?
Did it keep working but making a clunky noise at slow speeds?
Was it making any kind of noise?
I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. Jerry

I was doing about 80ish right to left down hill, jim saw a cop, which turned out to be a cop car with no one in it, and after slowing and realizing this I was exiting the left hander the rev's when to red, thought I broke a belt. Stopped Jim came back and 50 feet back I saw the bolt in middle of my lane, jim picked it up and I had saw the my front sproket had fell off and was sitting on the top of the oil line. The bolt would not thread in so we realized that the half the bolt was in there.
A really nice guy named cory at the jeep chrysler dealer that was 100 yards down the road, so he towed me in his side by side (which is the only go cam footage I have of the trip) to the dealership and tried three different easy outs all to no avail.

Aaron the BRP sales rep from spyderfest found out, came up to my location, loaded my spyder up and got me to a dealer and then drove me up to my meet my ride that came down to get me and that was a LONG drive in a cage.

So it was quite the adventure, I can't thank Aaron, Jim, Doc and Len enough for the help with this so far.

I have neighbors but I can't throw a rock that far. Maybe I can lure them in closer! Sounds like fun!

Hey.. Lamont! :roflblack:

Is there any of the bolt still sticking out? Even if it is broken off flush you can weld a nut to it and possibly get enough torque on it that way (plus the heating from welding) to get it out.

If it doesn't work you haven't lost anything but a little time.

"to the dealership and tried three different easy outs all to no avail"

Did he break them off then???

Can't believe they wouldn't try a few more things before doing an engine teardown.

Hope you can get this worked out soon!

its a 2.5 inch bolt that holds you sprocket on, the last half inch is way in there, I guess the slow cousin got to design that part. I mean the engine had a chain on it and the bolt was shorter becuase it did not have this huge belt sprocket on it SO the design should have had the bolt threaded on the very end of the shaft so if this does happen you can heat it or weld it or NEVER had a deadline issue like this, its BRP's bill they should have just paid me and my machinist to improve this part of the spyder, last count was 6 different owners have had this issue, that is quite a bit of money and not so happy spyder owners for a simple bolt fix.

Of course communism looks good on paper too so this is just a theory.

Wow, that stinks! If I was closer I'd help you out in a heartbeat and probably wouldn't even give it a second thought. Best of luck getting your sled back.
