• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Are we ALL old folks riding Spyders?

Is it just me ? I mean all the photo's I've seen of people riding spyders, particularly the RT's have all been people like....ME.

Is there another forum for youngsters to post on ?

Just my opinion, I could be wrong.

How Old is Old?

I don't know if I'm old or not (46), but I figure I have less chance of falling off a 3-wheeler and breaking a hip.

After attending the past few events last year, none this year yet, I am think I am one of the young ones of the group at 34. There is a thread somewhere in here, peeps posted thier ages. Only a few under 45.

Wow, I may actually be the baby of the bunch at 46. We can all meet for the early-bird dinner.

Yup, there was a thread and a poll but I can't seem to find it right now.

i am 43 and still the young'un.:D
one advantage of spyder ryders is that ryders are available for weekday rydes. a lot of ryders back in los angeles were retired.
i come from crotch rocket side of motorcycling but i enjoy spyder so so much more.

Picked up my 2008 RS SM5 last August at the ripe old age of 47. Last time I was in the shop (600 mi check-up) I came out to get the bike and a very cute lady EMT was looking it over. She asked a few questions about it and then she said it: "My dad's been wanting one of these."

I drove home with the left blinker on all the way.

Hey! Who you calling old here. :lecturef_smilie: :roflblack::roflblack::roflblack:

You didn't mention your age "SKS06460" :dontknow:

Not ashamed to mention my age, proud of it, 49 next month,
Is that what you call old?

I don't feel my age, I am a new young grandmother to a beautiful girl

Most young riders wouldn't be caught dead on a three wheeler, not Macho enough, also the price doesn't help ether. For thousands less you can get a two wheeler that will run circles around the Spyder. I bough my Spyder at age 63 [I'm 65 now] I got it so i can ride every day though the winter. I got tired of parking my two Wheeler's in the bad weather, So i guess you can say i got it for safety reasons. I do take my Son's Busa out every now and then to keep the juices flowing.

Now that right dere is funny...

The left blinker thing is funny....lol

I manage a senior housing facility and the old folks buzz all over the place in their 3 and 4 wheel electric scooters (Rascals, etc.) . . . so when we drive up next to them on one of our Spyders, we tell them they are our two passenger motorized scooters . .. . :2thumbs:

It is funny I am approacehd by a lot of young folks who think it is "cool" but I would agree that price and style keep most of them away. I am 41

I was 100110 when I bought mine and now I'm 110000! nojoke

Any 3 wheeled vehicle starts out with the long accepted 'Old man's ride' baggage. So it is not surprising that the Spyder has been tagged as such. It doesn't help that, uh, more mature people have really taken to the Spyder.

It gets critisized as a ride for people that can't handle a real motorcycle. And while this is true, it does not mean it is ONLY for those who can no longer handle 2 wheels. Quite the contrary. In my own case I own, can still ride, and love my Suzuki M109R. But I just don't ride it anymore because I enjoy the Spyder that much.

The truth is, the Spyder is just a lot of fun to ride no matter what your age or ability. It is also a much more versatile ride than most 2 wheelers.

I think BRP tried to break the mold with the sport model and a much higher 'Cool' factor but their success has been questionable.

Too bad, without this unwarranted misconception the Spyder would surely do better among the younger crowd.
