The first thing they said when they floorboards, brake extension and hand brake was that it will void an chance of a claim if I have any sort of brake issues at all.

Next they saw that I had my Iphone, Chatterbox X1 and alarm wired in. They said "you are really pushing things. The Spyder can not handle that much of a power load.

First, my dealer will not install any products not directly from BRP on the spyder. I asked why and they said to much liability-and again mentioned the add on hand brake. They went on to tell me how the brake can hit the floorboards now with enough pressure

I think it ,ay be time to find another dealer for my service. Probably if my spyder won't start now they will tell me it is because of the third party add-ons.

it's only because that's what brp will say.
first thing they will say on anything is do they have any aftermarket equipments. does not have to be much. again, it's all up to the dealer...

They also told me a gas smell at slow speeds when it is warm is normal

I mentioned the gas smell when I brought it in, and they said thats what they do-It is nothing to worry about.

I asked why no other MC or scooter has the problem, and they said it is because it is so closed in with all the plastic panels

As I said new dealer time perhaps

1. As others have said, and you agreed, time to get another dealer. A dealer with an attitude problem is a pain forever!

2. Under the provisions of the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, the dealer must show that a specific modification caused or contributed to the failue in question before they can deny warrantyu coverage, and they cannot deny warranty coverage on a blanket basis for unrelated items.

3. The Spyder RS has a limited charging output, and the RT has only a bit more, but it should be more than adequate for small electronic loads like you have mentioned. It will run heavier loads like heated gear, but you may want to switch that off when starting, or under low rpm or stop-and-go operation. You may even want to run about a gear lower when using a heavy load. The Spyder only puts out about half its rated charging amperage at 4,000 rpm.

My dealer installed the throttlemeister for me, hardwired my Garmin, put on my ESI's handlebar risers, and more...I guess they figure if I pay them for their time, they'll do it...I'm sure they wouldn't install anything that could be dangerous...most dealers should be on your side with matters...your patronage keeps them in business!

:yikes: Whow, All that stuff put together would draw less than 2 amps. There is a 15 amp acc. circuit built in!
I agree you would be on your own on the brake mods, but the minor electonics ..... come on!

I have over 300 LED's, Alarm, Radar, GPS, phone, 4 HID lights, Extra tail lights, extra turn sigs, extra tag lights, extra brake lights, Heated gear for rider and passenger... and a partrige in a pear tree ..... All that and no issues.
I did have the dealer tell me they were going to have to charge me to remove and reinsatll some stuff that was in the way but I expected that and am totally Ok with it.

Definitely need to find a different dealer. There are some that will actually work with their customers out there, and try to help them out as much as possible.
