There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. More Horsepower

It is basicaly the same motor as is in the Aprillia. There is a 1200 kit available for that!
Also a turbo kit in the works. Lots of threads on the turbo here ... just search.

Has anyone made any modifications to increase the horsepower of the Spyder, and if so, what?

Hindle adds 4, green filter adds a few, juicebox will add a bunch...

A turbo kit will add a LOT!

Look around and see what others are doing...easiest to start with the pipe and go from there...

Do the basics mentioned above....intake ,juicebox, exhaust. This is all I needed.....the Spyder is no slouch in performance stock - these mods add to seat of the pants performance and "sound improvement"! :2thumbs:

I totally agree with you. 4.5 sec 0-60 out of the box...likely a little over 4.0 with some good mods thrown in there.

The only problem is the low torque...I was riding with my group a couple of weeks ago and one of the guys on a Valkyrie 1600 special edition (0-60 in 3.5 seconds) said that he could hear the bike rev up before it really went anywhere...this, according to him, is a function of not enough torque...his bike, which is also 700 pounds, has I think he said about 128 torque...our bikes are about 80...big difference...

your kidding right? I mean if you compare a spyder to a harvey daneilson well yes it is fast but compared to a sport touring bike of any brand or dare i say any 600 sport bike it is not fast, the JB just changes where the power in,it doesn't increase it. I do not believe that you can gain 4 out of a slip on but I am in the same boat as you where I can not prove it.

What I tell people that ask is that the spyder is quick but not fast, 0-60 in 3.5ish and 125 without the wheelchair on the back, I am going to turbo mine but the rev's limit all, the motor should have been left the way it was in the aprillia.

In all fairness, shouldn't you be comparing the Spyder to other 'trikes' ?

If you do that ---there's no comparison--- The Spyder should take them all.... in addition to most 2 wheeled HD's.

I totally agree with this quote,

Speed is a relative term, some people consider 100mph fast, I consider 200mph fast, and I am sure that some people 200 mph is slow but yes it is the best 3 wheeled setup if cost is any concern of yours.

Speed doesn't matter... Quick does.

Everyone always asks me "How fast does it go?"
I have a smart ars answer.

I say, "It's faster than a Toyota with a stuck gas pedal.":yikes:

Heh, I had a Hardley pass me today, I was doing about 75 and I saw him back there for awhile. After I had passed a few cars, with him right with me he finally went by me, I think he thought I was tied in a knot at 75. After he went by I stayed right on his back tire all the way to 107 when he finally backed off to 70 which was slower than I was going when I was out front, really glad he passed me :joke:

107 may have been all he had.

A group of us were riding to Sturgis. We blasted up a freeway on ramp and there was a BMW (car) in the slow lane. He really didn't want to move over so he split our little group. Some got on in front of him and some behind.

No big deal. The ones behind blasted around him and we hooked up again. There wasn't any traffic to speak of and we didn't think anything about it.

But I guess it ticked this guy off or he was showing off for his girlfriend or something because all of a sudden he comes blowing by us (we were doing about 75mph).

Someone in our group (I won't say who) decided not to let it go and we all kicked it up a few notches, and so did he. I'm not sure what he thought but I'm pretty sure he did not expect us to stay with him at 125mph.

He finally backed off and we never saw him again. Some days are just better than others... :ohyea:

Nope, not kidding. I have had alot of bikes mostly cruisers - my last one was a Sabre 1100 and the Spyder is way faster than that thing! I never was into sport bikes, I like to get out and enjoy the mountains etc. The Spyder pulls plenty hard enough for me - its a blast! I have a buddy that has a F-1 it's sick fast---but, thats what he likes - to each there own:doorag:
If I were to buy another 2 wheeler it would be one of the Victorys - love the look of those bikes.

that is great, I hope you like it, but "to each his own" has some trouble with people who do not know that a rocket on the showroom now will destroy a full race bike from 10 years ago. What is an F1?

I run into more with car people than bike people, I have rode some crusier's that are ok (early 00's intruders come to mind) as far as cornering speed and such but I am not in them, the screw with my shoulders and people that ride them that don't know ALWAYS said that rockets would hurt my back.

speed is what gets you away from the people with ticket books, no moto gp bike won just becuase they made the holeshot, again its what is important to as a rider.
