• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

The Spyder that Roared in Death Valley

Handsome husband and I took our first long distance ride (long distance for us, over 200 miles) from Pahrump, NV to Death Valley today. Beautiful spring weather; we couldn't have asked for a better day. We had a blast on the Spyder. However, I thought with us being close to Las Vegas and SoCal we might see other Spyder ryders. Zilch, zip, nada. I guess da' Spyder is still a well-kept secret here in Southern NV. We continue to be impressed with the performance and handling; it flat-out rocked! I can't remember when I've had so much fun.

"The time has come to be gone." I'll send you $5 if you get the reference.

BTW, just kidding about the $5. May everyone's rides be safe rides.

You missed me by one week!

My wife and I were there last weekend looking for wildflowers. There were none. By the time we got to the Trona turnoff we took the shortcut home. Now I read where they're blooming on the road to Scotty's Castle and I'm sure there's life near the north entrance on the way to Lone Pine.

The German tourists in the park really like the :spyder2: however.

Are you going to the River Run in Laughlin this year?

Yikes! I did 113 (measured by GPS) in Death Valley a couple of years ago. I am glad your lady cop was not around then. It seems like in a place called 'Death Valley' that you should be given some slack on these type of things.

It certainly is beautiful there at this time of year.

Bob, its real easy to twist that throttle and forget about it in DV. Little traffic and straight roads ... like taking Tiger Woods to the Mustang Ranch.

I just visited Mustang Ranch last week on the B.U.M.P.s tour. It is alive and well. At least that is what the guys I interviewed on the outside of it told me. I didn't go in.

(please grant me honesty and virtue. Just don't grant it to me yet)

Here is the pic. I have a shot of 30 different ones. None from the inside though. They frown on cameras on the inside. At least that is what someone told me.

The whole story is on my blog.

Nice to hear that some historical landmarks are still being cared for, and in full use as well. :D Thanks for the picture too.

Being ignorant AND forgetful, I learn several things each day.

Ramble On

RodO, your signature was a real surprise to me

"CanAm Highway goes from Texas along U.S. Route 85 and Interstate 25 into Saskatchewan, Canada. The CanAm highway in Canada is Saskatchewan highways SK 35, SK 39, SK 6, SK 3, and SK 2. <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CanAm_Highway>"

I didn't realize that I lived just a couple of miles off the CanAm Highway and ride on it several times a week. I25 goes right through Albuquerque.

Thanks for the info.

Tom

"Is there that many in NV or does include a few truck stops?"

In theory there are/were 42. I went to 27 active ones. Well I really don't know how active. One was just a sign. Two were empty desert where there use to be a bordello.

And we are only talking about the legal ones. It is great way to see parts of the country you would not otherwise.

Getting ready to pick up my Blue RT-SE from ProSports. Looking to get on the road very soon. Very pleased so far with ProSports sales approach. And their showroom is very busy with Spyder shoppers. Hopefully, the Vegas valley will soon have a critical mass of Spyders to gather for rydes, etc.
